@phadinglove yeah there was that gay band that played. save the hero or something. idk what bad religion was doing. but i think its the hob that books the bands not br.
People look at this from a punk rock band from Brazil called AUTOGESTÃO playing New Model Army 51st State and see other videos of these guys are one of the best underground bands in the Brazil
Hey personally i dont like gd or blink 182 or rancid for that matter them bands are to up their arse. i personally like the original pop punk acts like nofx, bad religion, vandals decendants, guttermouth. them bands didnt sell out as much as the others. hanging out with good charlotte and kelly ozbourne(rancid) and that. ye people should check out the old bands like subhumans or leftover crack capdown or great ska bands likt the filaments, streetlight, and so on.
to the peaple think that blink 182 is pop and rancid isnt even close the vocalist worked together with drummer travis barker in the ban the transplants
BR probably respect Green Day. people need to stop slacking on GD. those guys revived punk rock. most people today would never hear of Bad Religion if Green Day hadn't done what they did in the early 90's. they put the word Punk Rock back into a new generation's vocabulary.
I used to love the old greenday in the late 90's, they got me into punk and all kinds of Alternate music, now they can go drown in a bucked of boiling fish juice.
yeah Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Wake Me Up When September Ends had more emotion in them than your typical punk song. but the way they dress and wearing eyeliner doesnt determine if your emo or not. plenty of punk bands wear eyeliner and wear tight black pants. and a rock opera is emo???? so your telling that The Who is emo cause their album Tommy is a rock opera.
"Had more emotion" That's pretty much the definition of emo. It's punk that took a nasty turn to the sensitive and wimpy side. And yeah, just because a band does a rock opera doesn't make them emo, but no punk bands do that shit.
so Ramones aren't punk? if i recall they helped start the punk movement in the US. and they were pretty fuckin sensitive and wimpy but they are still considered punk. its people like you that put these labels on what punk is that is killin it.
yeah they were, how isnt "i wanna be your boyfriend" and "baby, i love you" sensitive? and compared to other punk bands in the mid to late 70's like bad brains, DOA, Black flag, subhumans and buzzcocks, ramones were the N'sync or jonas brothers of punk.
Ugh. I can't listen to this anymore. If you just compared the Ramones to the Jonas Brothers and N sync, you really do know nothing about music. Yeah, the Ramones dabbled in slightly more upbeat songs, but they're not the same magnitude of pussy emo shit that Green Day has been putting out.
emo and emotion are diffrent things. emos tend to cut their wrists, singing about your feelings is not emo, otherwise all love songs in the world (about 90% of all music) would be emo...
@tijs150 Every human being has feelings (well most have) those are called emotions. sometimes it can feel good to discuss these emotions with your friends, or sing about it. It can help you handle strong emotions like love and sorrow. This is perfectly normal. However when one starts making up emotions or overstating them to attract attention + starts wearing black to show how "depressed" they are they become wannebe emos. They are known for fake suicide attempts to attract attention. thats weak
Emo was originally Emotional Hardcore music, originated by Hardcore Punk and was american subgenre of hc punk in '80 and '90s. Bands were part of hc punk scene, not cutting their wrists.
In 2000 mainstream turned emo into this shitty psueod-subculture, cuted bands from hc punk scene and made alternative rock bands ''emo'' bands, who have nothing to do with emotional hardcore music. Listen to ''Gray Matter - Burn no bridges'' and tell me this is not hc punk
@1991Tijmen1991 not all Emo's cut. Most emos are just confused about their feelings and can't control their emotions and they have an awesome dress sense. Like punks, emos fuck the system and do whatever they can to piss soiciety off.. E.G acting VERY gay.
@1991Tijmen1991 The Word "EMO" doesn't mean that they cut there wrists, for your information thats originaly from a Goth sub-culture. Any EMO means Emotional Hardcore, which is a Mix betwin Blackmetal and Metalcore that sing about Depresing Moments, emotions and experiences. there are also 2 times of emo. Ballad Christian emo and Christian Scraemo (which most "emo's" listen to) To sum it all up, The Emo-culture is just a buch of wana be Goths that is to much of a chiken to listen to there music
Rock Operas were invented by The WHO, one of the best and most influential rockbands ever, are they emo? The looks you are mentioning are actually punk, Emo stole the looks from punks. If you knew your history, you'd know Gothic came from punk, and emo came from Gothics going back to punk. And original emo had nothing to do with cutting wrists. FYI, I am not emo, I hate modern poser wannabe-emos, I do not consider myself part of any group, even tho some people say that makes me punk...
But Bring Me the Horizon is so hardcore punk and will go down as the best band ever! Not this Bad Religon crap, who wants good lyrics and people who can actually play instruments when you can have generic emo music?
@phadinglove that's the one thing i love about warped tour. you go to see bad religion, nofx, pennywise, the adolescents and such. but there are so many gay fucking bands there its a good opportunity to get into a pit and stop some fucking skulls.
Dude, I like BMTH, but they are not nearly as influencial as Bad Religion. Bad Religion is unique and has been around for 30 years, do you honestly think anyone will remember BMTH in 30 years? I doubt it...
I can't stand BMTH, the lyrics are terrible, the instruments and vocals sound the same as any other screamo band, but I guess thats just my opinion...
you obviously know little about punk and music in general. bring me the horizon isnt even hardcore punk theyre a bunch of posers, and bad religion are already considered one of the best and most influential punk bands EVER, dont for a second think bring me the horizon is even going to be remembered in say 10 years time.
@phadinglove Bring me the Horizon is not hardcore, it's metalcore, and they are not the best band ever, and using as much distortion as they do, everyone can play an instrument and sound like them. Also, they dont sing, they scream. And I'm getting tired of explaining what is and is not emo, so I won't even bother.
@1991Tijmen1991 The Pretty Things beat the WHO to the start line of rock opera with SF Sorrow, but yeah....we can credit the WHO with being the most influential in that regard. As far as Goth - ever heard the Monks - they were gothing it up in the mid-1960s.
@1991Tijmen1991 while i agree with most of your statement if you want to go back in history gothic came first because it was a architectural style circa 8th-15Th century it became modernized as a clothing style during the late 20th century, and about the poser thing i believe everyone is a poser no matter who you are due to the fact that well all like certain things and we wear and do what we like and in that sense we are posing what we enjoy
Well you can't really generalize with Green Day. In regards to their older stuff, it was more silly, fun and filled with everyday angst. Their newer stuff is more mainstream, but also serious and about world issues. On a small scale, they don't really have a way with words (I cringe when they sing "I have a really bad disease), but create a great big picture and story, that resonates and on a whole is very insightful.
Keep that in mind as you're calling them "mainstream shit"
green day aren't emo. and as much as i like Bad Religion, Rancid, NOFX, Sex Pistols, The Who, Social Distortion, The Clash, The Ramones, I like Green Day too. In fact, Green Day have more range and took more risks in their careers then the other bands.
BR revived punk in 80's too, if what u say really is true, im not really sure on my punk history, then it's pretty funny that punk died AGAIN in the 90s, though I wouldn't be surprised. Old punk rockers don't really consider "today's" punk, as punk, and that especially includes Greenday.
punk is a lifestyle. Green Day have been getting slack for not being punk for 15+ years. it was a lose lose situation for them. they went mainstream in 94. punk is about sticking to your guns, stickin it to the man & living your life according to YOU. and that is exactly what Green Day have done . im not crazy about their new stuff either. so what? they've achieved some pretty awesome albums and r one of the best live bands out there. they still LOVE playing music and are a solid band.
Right, it is a lifestyle, but in terms of musical "style" Green Day, and alot of punk bands that started off punk, actually, have become sounding less and less. I agree, they're a great band especially Live, but there are reasons why they're not considered "Punk" anymore. It really depends on who u ask. Some people don't consider BR to be punk post-Against The Grain when they started slowing down and becoming less aggressive with their sound.
personally i find the whole bitching and moaning over how GD aren't punk, stupid. especially when i come to hear a BR song and find all comments about bashing GD. wtf? Why do we have to label everything? GD roots are PUNK, but it's been 20 yrs and their sound never fit the mold of punk anyway. they're just Green Day. they can be punk but arent restricting themselves to that one style. who cares. people bitching and moaning over stupid things like labels suck ass. but aegyss ur cool
@foxpawz comparing green day to bad religion is a joke! green day might be way more mainstream and monetarily successful, but fans of punk rock obviously have tons more respect for bad religion! bad religion has been around for almost fucking 30 years! their first album was made like 28 or 29 years ago! they are legends, green day are just more accessible! green day was good when they werent commercialized!
i'm not comparing the two. i was actually ANNOYED with people comparing GD to BR on a BR video --with idiotic comments about who is punk & why GD is not punk. it's retarded. i like both bands. if your liking BD more then GD makes you feel superior. fine. congrats you MUST be more punk then i. and GD have been a band for a 20 years if not more & they have been mainstream for 16 years so... people really need to get over the mainstream thing already. im done here. i'm just not punk enough for YT.
I figure with the punk/pop debate...does it matter? It's all good. Bad Religion may not be pop, but it has the melodic feel to them instead of the simple thrash sounding stuff that makes it sound like the beginning of where Blink and Green Day got their starts.
Comparing Bad Religion to Green Day, huh? Well, I have to say that they're both really awesome bands, and comparing one band to another just means you have no life. -.- Aren't they both kind of political? I mean, this song is so about the people in poverty that the [American] government won't help. ;l Green Day's political too.
Stop comparing bands and just stick to the stuff you like. Really.
@NovaStraCe i used to be a huge green day fan (kerplunk + dookie era)... i couldn't agree more with you... green day is mainstream pop nowadays... BAD RELIGION KICKS ASS!
@NovaStraCe the mainstream era of green day between years 94 until now. when green day was under-lable by lookout records! they were so punk! is it right?

Hey personally i dont like gd or blink 182 or rancid for that matter them bands are to up their arse. i personally like the original pop punk acts like nofx, bad religion, vandals decendants, guttermouth. them bands didnt sell out as much as the others. hanging out with good charlotte and kelly ozbourne(rancid) and that. ye people should check out the old bands like subhumans or leftover crack capdown or great ska bands likt the filaments, streetlight, and so on.

this is a BR video, not Green Day xD
Aegyss 2 years ago 3
BR probably respect Green Day. people need to stop slacking on GD. those guys revived punk rock. most people today would never hear of Bad Religion if Green Day hadn't done what they did in the early 90's. they put the word Punk Rock back into a new generation's vocabulary.
foxpawz 2 years ago
The Offspring, Pennywise, Bad Religion, Rancid eaven Blink 182 ... but not fucking Greenday :/
Die4tw0 2 years ago 4
blink 182 are pop, not punk and they've never been punk. Rancid now are pop too, like green day who played punk long ago...

I used to love the old greenday in the late 90's, they got me into punk and all kinds of Alternate music, now they can go drown in a bucked of boiling fish juice.

Green Day before American Idiot= pretty good.
Green day after American Idiot= sell outs.
It really is that simple. They sold out by going emo because emo was popular.
stealbugsy 2 years ago
hoe did they go emo?
saintjimmy49 2 years ago
1. Eyeliner
2. Tight black pants
3. Dyed black hair
4. Boulevard of Broken Dreams
5. Wake Me Up When September Ends
6. Rock Operas
stealbugsy 2 years ago
yeah Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Wake Me Up When September Ends had more emotion in them than your typical punk song. but the way they dress and wearing eyeliner doesnt determine if your emo or not. plenty of punk bands wear eyeliner and wear tight black pants. and a rock opera is emo???? so your telling that The Who is emo cause their album Tommy is a rock opera.
saintjimmy49 2 years ago
"Had more emotion" That's pretty much the definition of emo. It's punk that took a nasty turn to the sensitive and wimpy side. And yeah, just because a band does a rock opera doesn't make them emo, but no punk bands do that shit.
stealbugsy 2 years ago
so Ramones aren't punk? if i recall they helped start the punk movement in the US. and they were pretty fuckin sensitive and wimpy but they are still considered punk. its people like you that put these labels on what punk is that is killin it.
saintjimmy49 2 years ago
wow dude, wow. Ramones were sensitive? Compared to the rest of the bands in the 70s? You need to do some research...
stealbugsy 2 years ago
yeah they were, how isnt "i wanna be your boyfriend" and "baby, i love you" sensitive? and compared to other punk bands in the mid to late 70's like bad brains, DOA, Black flag, subhumans and buzzcocks, ramones were the N'sync or jonas brothers of punk.
saintjimmy49 2 years ago
Ugh. I can't listen to this anymore. If you just compared the Ramones to the Jonas Brothers and N sync, you really do know nothing about music. Yeah, the Ramones dabbled in slightly more upbeat songs, but they're not the same magnitude of pussy emo shit that Green Day has been putting out.
stealbugsy 2 years ago
they were not the jb (im not gonna write that name) of punk, since jb are sell-outs, the ramones are not. Also, the ramones made music, jb do not.
1991Tijmen1991 2 years ago
emo and emotion are diffrent things. emos tend to cut their wrists, singing about your feelings is not emo, otherwise all love songs in the world (about 90% of all music) would be emo...
1991Tijmen1991 2 years ago 56
could you explain it a litle further?
ive been asking around for this and everyon sayd its all the same >_> stupid stereotyping ;-;
tijs150 1 year ago
@tijs150 Every human being has feelings (well most have) those are called emotions. sometimes it can feel good to discuss these emotions with your friends, or sing about it. It can help you handle strong emotions like love and sorrow. This is perfectly normal. However when one starts making up emotions or overstating them to attract attention + starts wearing black to show how "depressed" they are they become wannebe emos. They are known for fake suicide attempts to attract attention. thats weak

@1991Tijmen1991
You're wrong.
FeisaR4 1 year ago
@1991Tijmen1991 thats wrong...
frogd0g7 1 year ago
@1991Tijmen1991 not all Emo's cut. Most emos are just confused about their feelings and can't control their emotions and they have an awesome dress sense. Like punks, emos fuck the system and do whatever they can to piss soiciety off.. E.G acting VERY gay.
AbiTheRambler 1 year ago
@1991Tijmen1991 The Word "EMO" doesn't mean that they cut there wrists, for your information thats originaly from a Goth sub-culture. Any EMO means Emotional Hardcore, which is a Mix betwin Blackmetal and Metalcore that sing about Depresing Moments, emotions and experiences. there are also 2 times of emo. Ballad Christian emo and Christian Scraemo (which most "emo's" listen to) To sum it all up, The Emo-culture is just a buch of wana be Goths that is to much of a chiken to listen to there music
oLawlieto 1 year ago
Rock Operas were invented by The WHO, one of the best and most influential rockbands ever, are they emo? The looks you are mentioning are actually punk, Emo stole the looks from punks. If you knew your history, you'd know Gothic came from punk, and emo came from Gothics going back to punk. And original emo had nothing to do with cutting wrists. FYI, I am not emo, I hate modern poser wannabe-emos, I do not consider myself part of any group, even tho some people say that makes me punk...
1991Tijmen1991 2 years ago 27
@1991Tijmen1991
But Bring Me the Horizon is so hardcore punk and will go down as the best band ever! Not this Bad Religon crap, who wants good lyrics and people who can actually play instruments when you can have generic emo music?
phadinglove 1 year ago
@phadinglove that's the one thing i love about warped tour. you go to see bad religion, nofx, pennywise, the adolescents and such. but there are so many gay fucking bands there its a good opportunity to get into a pit and stop some fucking skulls.

I am extremely ashamed to be living among these people.

Dude, I like BMTH, but they are not nearly as influencial as Bad Religion. Bad Religion is unique and has been around for 30 years, do you honestly think anyone will remember BMTH in 30 years? I doubt it...
PointlessRiot 1 year ago
@PointlessRiot
I can't stand BMTH, the lyrics are terrible, the instruments and vocals sound the same as any other screamo band, but I guess thats just my opinion...
phadinglove 1 year ago
you obviously know little about punk and music in general. bring me the horizon isnt even hardcore punk theyre a bunch of posers, and bad religion are already considered one of the best and most influential punk bands EVER, dont for a second think bring me the horizon is even going to be remembered in say 10 years time.
gotaBadhabit3 1 year ago
You sir, need to learn sarcasm
phadinglove 1 year ago
@phadinglove Bring me the Horizon is not hardcore, it's metalcore, and they are not the best band ever, and using as much distortion as they do, everyone can play an instrument and sound like them. Also, they dont sing, they scream. And I'm getting tired of explaining what is and is not emo, so I won't even bother.
1991Tijmen1991 1 year ago
@1991Tijmen1991
Wow, learn sarcasm sir. If you would read my comments you'd see I HATE bmth and only listen to real music >.> hence why I looked up Bad Religion.

zoldkoral 1 year ago
@1991Tijmen1991 The Pretty Things beat the WHO to the start line of rock opera with SF Sorrow, but yeah....we can credit the WHO with being the most influential in that regard. As far as Goth - ever heard the Monks - they were gothing it up in the mid-1960s.
MissEgasMoniz 1 year ago

Keep that in mind as you're calling them "mainstream shit"
cocoabeenut 2 years ago 3
how to compare Green day to Bad Religion? emo(nowadays) x hardcore punk/punk rock band?
lucasaclima 2 years ago 3
green day aren't emo. and as much as i like Bad Religion, Rancid, NOFX, Sex Pistols, The Who, Social Distortion, The Clash, The Ramones, I like Green Day too. In fact, Green Day have more range and took more risks in their careers then the other bands.
foxpawz 2 years ago
BR revived punk in 80's too, if what u say really is true, im not really sure on my punk history, then it's pretty funny that punk died AGAIN in the 90s, though I wouldn't be surprised. Old punk rockers don't really consider "today's" punk, as punk, and that especially includes Greenday.
Aegyss 2 years ago
punk is a lifestyle. Green Day have been getting slack for not being punk for 15+ years. it was a lose lose situation for them. they went mainstream in 94. punk is about sticking to your guns, stickin it to the man & living your life according to YOU. and that is exactly what Green Day have done . im not crazy about their new stuff either. so what? they've achieved some pretty awesome albums and r one of the best live bands out there. they still LOVE playing music and are a solid band.
foxpawz 2 years ago
Right, it is a lifestyle, but in terms of musical "style" Green Day, and alot of punk bands that started off punk, actually, have become sounding less and less. I agree, they're a great band especially Live, but there are reasons why they're not considered "Punk" anymore. It really depends on who u ask. Some people don't consider BR to be punk post-Against The Grain when they started slowing down and becoming less aggressive with their sound.
Aegyss 2 years ago
personally i find the whole bitching and moaning over how GD aren't punk, stupid. especially when i come to hear a BR song and find all comments about bashing GD. wtf? Why do we have to label everything? GD roots are PUNK, but it's been 20 yrs and their sound never fit the mold of punk anyway. they're just Green Day. they can be punk but arent restricting themselves to that one style. who cares. people bitching and moaning over stupid things like labels suck ass. but aegyss ur cool
foxpawz 2 years ago 3
@foxpawz comparing green day to bad religion is a joke! green day might be way more mainstream and monetarily successful, but fans of punk rock obviously have tons more respect for bad religion! bad religion has been around for almost fucking 30 years! their first album was made like 28 or 29 years ago! they are legends, green day are just more accessible! green day was good when they werent commercialized!
oxrjbizzle1984y 2 years ago 2
i'm not comparing the two. i was actually ANNOYED with people comparing GD to BR on a BR video --with idiotic comments about who is punk & why GD is not punk. it's retarded. i like both bands. if your liking BD more then GD makes you feel superior. fine. congrats you MUST be more punk then i. and GD have been a band for a 20 years if not more & they have been mainstream for 16 years so... people really need to get over the mainstream thing already. im done here. i'm just not punk enough for YT.
foxpawz 2 years ago
I figure with the punk/pop debate...does it matter? It's all good. Bad Religion may not be pop, but it has the melodic feel to them instead of the simple thrash sounding stuff that makes it sound like the beginning of where Blink and Green Day got their starts.
nickremag 2 years ago
Comparing Bad Religion to Green Day, huh? Well, I have to say that they're both really awesome bands, and comparing one band to another just means you have no life. -.- Aren't they both kind of political? I mean, this song is so about the people in poverty that the [American] government won't help. ;l Green Day's political too.
Stop comparing bands and just stick to the stuff you like. Really.
