And to all the "magicians" that says " belive me it's not fake i do the same thing etc etc.", I don't think you're lying... I think you try to convince the audience that it is real so hard that you start to belive on it yourselves..
@Xzuzz hypnosis really does produce this, i went to california for a week to get trained in hypnosis and saw things i still thought were fake at first but when i experienced it and then did these kinds of things with others I was amazed.
One interesting difference between stage and television is that the audience will assume that the dictionary is unabridged. In reality, the dictionary appears to be condensed (relatively few entries per page). However, I won't dare imply that Derrin's mnemonic memorization of even that brief dictionary isn't impressive.
If a magician tells you that he's changing a card into another card, do you call him a fake? Or do you applaud his presentation of what is otherwise a trick?
Derren is a mentalist (a form of magic) and he incorporates "magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship." Of course he isn't REALLY reading minds. He's using a wide variety of clever tricks to fool you into thinking that he can.
I think Derren switches the pad with the votes on it, and because everyone voted randomly, they couldn't tell easily which picture had the most votes. That's the only element of his final trick that he couldn't otherwise control (unless he switches the pads so that confetti has the most votes).
@durmiendo Actually, studies have shown that people tend to go for whatever picture is most appealing to the eye, in this case the confetti was the most flamboyant and colorful, hence the majority (albeit, not all) of the people would choose it. Much like getting a group of people to all pick a number between 1 and 10. The majority will choose 7. They just do.
Derren's papa is amazing!

The trick with Doris has to be fake.. I mean, as everyone knows.. there are no real magicians.. There are no " sorcerers" or "druids".

the same could be true with the three words in the wicker box trick - easy to switch the paper out with other sheets with his three words on them.
