it's very confusing...i watch this video 3 times and i can't understand what i have to do in the moment which you skip (1 min 22 sec)... Beautiful result, but not good explanation =)
@BabyShineStars The notation doesn't help explain so well. What you need to do here is open each of the four pockets from the folds you just made and smoosh them down to flatten to a triangle. I then fast forward through these steps to go on to the next step. Sorry for the confusion. Best of luck! Thanks for watching.
okay got it perfect apart from the shell.. i just can't get it to expand at all i've been sat over over half an hour gently tugging at it but it just isn't happening, have you got any more advice on how to make the shell??? i'm going to have to start all over again now
@klakkaros Thanks for watching and trying your best. This is a pretty hard origami. That is great that you got most of it down now. At about the 8 min mark I talk through how to gently pull out the shell. This can be very hard depending on the quality of paper you have. I would start by pulling out at each fold and slowly pushing down from the top. I apologize that this video is not easier to see. Don't give up!
okay i think this is good but it gets a little confusing at the parts where you skip steps because you don't know what position it should be in after completing those steps if you know what i mean. I went wrong somewhere because at the part where you fold up to create the shell, mine had a whole body (not two flaps, one for the body and one for the shell as required) so mine came out more like a slug =/
Hi, Very nice snail origami here. Just want to seek permission of i can draw the diagrams out and post this origami snail design on my website? under Origami category which is all free. Just wanna pass this skill around.
@MsSylum Thank you for watching. I am not sure what kind of permission I could really give you. I am just an artist showing how I make these. The designs are not my own. I imagine if you still gave credit to the designer (Toshie Takahama) it might be OK. Thank you again!
this was the best snail video on here. everyone else was too fast or not descriptive enough with the steps, for a first time origami folder this video was easy and not stressful to watch. me and the snails on the origami mobile I'm making thank you!
@Drvaxo You could try. This is a difficult origami. The paper makes all the difference. Regular origami paper is too thin and will show some tears and fray. Printer paper may be too hard and won't move the way you want it too. Give it a try though! Thanks for watching!
btw... i was trying to find a tutorial to make a turtle. I found one but the guy is not giving any instructions, just showing the steps... do you by chance know how to make a turtle? that would be awesome! thanks!
omg! i just finished my first origami snail =) ... i didn't think i could, it looked hard, but with your instructions i finally was able to =) thanks!!
a year ago i got the great origami book, had this exact snail! The only problem was the book and i did not have language in common so making the snail was very hard. But i just want to say thanks snails are my favorite little creature expecially when made of paper!
