  • Not to detract from the quality of this song, but i feel a lot of people are here to morn or reflect. I would like to say this is very healthy. In moderation. Be happy, you're alive, and you probably will be in ten seconds. those people would like you to happy go out into the world and do good things.

  • I hate having to read these eighth grade poems under pieces like this all the time.

  • Love this song! Can anyone explain how to play on the piano. I have the general idea but can't quite figure the chords out. Thanks!

  • If you guys like this music, you should really check out my channel, I write a lot of songs, and I've uploaded a few, in similar genre/style. Thanks in advanced.

  • Is the background ambient sound a product of using the piano pedals, or is that something else? It's such a great complement to the melody.

  • The only place i call home, is your heart. I can not wait until you are in my arms. This piece destroys the pain that comes with this physical distance, even if for only 4:47. When i can't run to you, i run to this. My arms will be wrapped around you soon. Until then, this. I love you.

  • When you hear it you don't think. You listen.

  • @FrederikMeyer

"When you hear it, you don't think, you listen."

Me - "Once you hear it, a moment of silence occur then suddenly the beautiful weaves and strings of the piece that toys with your thoughts, making you start to wonder about things. Things that might be special events in your life, memories, virtual, realistic, hopes or dreams."

  • Calm the fuck down. It's just a piano melody.

  • The obscure sounds of pedal are very good.

  • aum...

  • this piece evokes a library of memories in my mind. Like I can just pop a certain time and place with her off the shelf, and vividly as desired just experience it all over again, knowing I may not ever have it again.

God, do I miss her to death...

    God, I love this song.

    sigh.

  • Very few pieces have ever made me feel the world disappearing around me. Very few pieces have ever made me think deeply about my entire life. Very few pieces have made me feel so happy to be alive. This is one of those pieces.

  • I froze this moment - this time it was the naked beauty , the pure silence , the feeling that the awakenings last for ever. thanx for the simplicity .

  • A song for a brisk morning, when the chilly air nips at your face as you watch the sun rise over distant slopes. A song for a rainy afternoon, when the gray skies inspire a melancholic nostalgia. A song for a lonely night, when the cold forces you into a mass of blankets alone in a dark room. A song for remembering. A song for imagining. What a song this is!

  • heres me a simple teenager, looking for some uplifting shitty pop music that will keep my head wobbling on my shoulders acting like its my world. until i stumbled upon this, thankyou goldmund

  • I CANT FIND ANY PIANO TUTORIALL FOR THIS :((

  • this makes me cry

  • if i could leave a blank comment i would, because..... well you know

  • While listening to this song, open another tab and listen to virtual thunderstorm at the same time. Heavenly.

  • @tizzyb71 Better yet, listen to a real thunderstorm.

    Pure magic.

  • does anyone know where I can find the sheet music for this song

  • @MrJbotts10 I have been looking for weeks. I don't think he releases it. If it helps any, the first four chords are A, C#, A, F#. I figured that out by ear. If you want to keep in touch and keep figuring out more together, I welcome it :)

  • This song is for every time something large has ended or when the best things are at it's highest points on a calm day.

  • @lpdj12 its*

  • I miss you Lottie...

I miss the way you used to smile and laugh at everything, and the sound of that laugh. I missed the sound of you breathing in the night, and the cute noises you made when you slept. I miss the feel of your skin on a cold day and your hair on a warm day. I miss the freckles on your nose and the dimples in your cheeks.

I miss the way you always made my birthday special and our anniversaries the best. I miss my best friend. I miss the one I love.

    I miss you Lottie Moran.

  • @GRIEF1712 ...

    :'(

one of the most heart-wrenching things i've read in a while.

    Because i 100% relate.

... I miss you, Carrie Lynn.

  • How can something be this beautiful?

  • this is so beautiful, i love it ♥

  • When I don't have the words, this song eliminates the need to find them.

  • @jbreslove4

Words are a barrier to something deeper. Words cannot explan everything especially emotions. In this word there are many different languages but music is universal.

  • ...Some people here are taking music a bit too seriously here. >_> Thumb me down, boys.

  • @Goomba4001

Loving music is nothing too serious. It just shows how open-minded people can be when listenin' to this and ho much people there is who appreciate the gift of music.

No need to thumb you down, I kinda think you'll realize it one day, you absolutely will :)

    best luck to you m8.

  • damn i'm finding so much good music on youtube today

  • Modern musical culture is becoming withered and dead on the outside. People look over and see just this shell, this husk, filled with "pop" artists getting their corporation-backed songs out there, copy and pasting the same over-produced and auto tuned bullshit over and over again, despite its lack of quality and substance. People are becoming too lazy, too scared to find that deep, inner core of music. The true artists and bands and producers who put their heart into their craft. Like Goldmund.

  • People I have a perfect mix for this song, and I have to share it with you.

    1. Open a new window or tab and go to YouTube.

    2. Search for 'Rainy Mood' and pick the first video.

    3. Lower the volume of Rainy Mood to about one third of the max.

    4. Play both videos at the same time (I recommend Rainy Mood first)

    5. Enjoy.

  • @t0ysold1ers, I haven't been able to find any sheet music for Goldmund's music.. I think he doesn't print what he writes for people to buy. I've been able to figure out door of our home, im sure you can figure Threnody out too! Goodluck

  • So long ago, in the time of green souls, were we indeed alive. In the time of exploring and finding, did we discover our bodies and minds- forever connected as one. Forever the longing sits uneasily with me now- permanent unsettlement. And you, the soul that's been freed from me, hast laid a path to which I stride- alone and in doubt, I reach for a hand that is never there, I reach for a touch that is never warm, I have yet to let go of that hand. I have yet to come back to mind, and free myself

  • If you want to listen to a threnody with an entirely different character, listen to Krzysztof Penderecki's 'Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima'.

  • Play this with rainymood

    Omg, best thing ever.

  • this is amazing

if you are a fan of goldmund you will love

  • Anyone have the sheet music for this?

  • this is just so beautiful

  • Possibly the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Reminds me of the Shawshank film for some reason.

  • this honestly brought me to tears it's so peaceful and beautiful. <3

  • this song makes everything so much easier to handle

  • @Laarrshh Music is the only way anyone can really connect with things they don't know about. Music gets past the shell of our outside perspective, our predetermined superficiality, our fake selves. When anyone listens to a certain music, whichever that music is, the first thing it reminds them of is what they love most in the world. If it is a person, then that person is always the only thing leading them anywhere. Now that mine is gone, I feel I have no direction or future plan, I need Emma.

  • @KingOfU212 My nigga, you could not be more correct.

  • @KingOfU212 God im so sorry, i feel your pain. How long is it since you and Emma split up?

  • @Laarrshh We never did. She isn't here.

  • @Laarrshh Everyone has their places they go, phrases they say, ego they show, and bills they pay. But in the end when the dust settles, there's only one thing that anyone wanted. For me, it was affection and understanding, and Emma fulfilled them entirely. I work my hours, I do my workouts, but finish to an empty apartment. I don't even know why I'm trying anymore. Anyone I meet now has problems, imperfections, and quarks that Emma lacked. There wasn't a single thing I didn't lover about her.

  • @KingOfU212 And you dont belive that there's anyone out there for you, that you could love like that again?

  • @Laarrshh Sorry, it didn't show my post before so I tried it twice, but whatever. And as far as that goes, I'm not sure there can be anyone else as amazing as her. I felt so good when I had her, and no one has been able to fill her shoes. I try to meet other people, but I can't help but have Emma in my mind the whole time.

I'm waiting, but only a miracle can bring someone equal to her back in my life.

  • @KingOfU212 Well, I know it' may seem obvious, but perhaps you shouldn't try to fill her shoes, and look for somebody else? Ofcourse they will all have flaws when you compare them to her, they aren't her you know.

You should take your time out and try to look for someone special that you really like, no mather theyre flaws.

  • @KingOfU212 Trust me, I feel you...

  • @KingOfU212 man..i really admire you.

  • @KingOfU212 man..i really admire you. your view on life is so great

  • @KingOfU212 May I say, that you are probably one of the brightest people I've meet on, or for that matter off the internet.

  • @Laarrshh Thanks. After this, and these past 2 months, I've decided on simplistic, yet complicated goals. I've decided that I'm going to read up on music, and learn all about it. My whole family was inclined for music, but I never tried it. I will be doing it primarily in free time. I'll try all forms of music, from piano bliss to beats and nu-jazz. Try Flying Lotus and his album Cosmogramma. That's what I'll be doing now, wish me luck. In the meantime, if a girl shows up, I'll go for it.

  • @KingOfU212 Good luck man! Glad to hear your doing better, I bet you will be just fine

  • @Laarrshh Ahhhh it's so nice to hear this song again. I haven't heard it in weeks, much less anything from Keith. Ive been trying to learn some good music.. And as far as Emma goes, yeah I still miss her.. It's been hard, but all I need to do is keep my mind off of her. Hopefully this can just substitute it. For how long, I don't know.. I need this.

From what Ive learned about life now, is this..

You will never know why you are alive, until you find what you would die for.

    Good luck.

  • @KingOfU212 Whenever I come back to this video and see your reply I feel really inspired. This comment has actually made a great impact on the way I think about music. You have a great way with words, I just tought you should know that. Pardon my English :)

  • @KingOfU212 I i could change one thing, in what you just wrote.. then it would be the name at the end!

Life takes turns, some times for the better, some times for the worse. a few days ago my life turned up side down.. and the scary part is that it was my job to notice that life was going in the wrong direction.

All you can do, is to try make things better again, be the best you can be and music often helps you out along the way. Thank you for all those nice words, hope is around the corner!

  • @KingOfU212 Well said

  • Music like this doesnt make me look at the world in whole, a particular place, or any given thing. It simply reminds me of the only person I ever connected with and I love uncontrollably. It makes me happy to think of her, and sad to think I will never have her. Emma, you were the only person I ever cared for. My relations with other 'friends' and family are shot to hell, and you and I shared more than anyone else can. Before I could gain courage to tell you how I loved you, all was lost.

  • Comment removed

  • You were the person who saved me from suicide. In highschool, you were the only person who reached out, and the only person I truly enjoyed being around. For years I've loved you but fear of not ever finding anyone else as amazing as you kept me from tell you how I love you.

I dont look up to people. I dont gain inspiration from persons. Yet you amazed me each day with the simple fact of who you are.

Emma, I love you and wish you were still here, because my life is no longer worth living.

  • @KingOfU212 If not anything else, live for the joy of telling people that. You clearly have experience in life i can tell.

And this is life. Life is not a terrible place, we humans are just not born able to take the good with the bad. Take the good. Live life man. You are still around.

  • @Laarrshh I live the good life I can, but without Emma,I won't find anyone else that could live up to her. Everyone else I've been with I've scrapped because they aren't as good as her. I'm too critical, but I know for a fact my life will never peak higher than when I had Emma. I merely walk around aimlessly now, doing little things that bring me joy for the shortest of time, only to be reminded of the most beautiful thing in the world, the one thing I want, and the one thing I will never have.

  • this song helped me get through a tough time, and it still calms me in a way nothing else can.. it blends with my soul.

  • I love this so much. :')

  • Whenever you talk to the person on the opposite side of the ocean, whenever you fall asleep during the rain, whenever you realize just how expanse and wonderful the world is, this is the song that plays.

  • @iOpposum Can I take your comment and make a poem out of it...I'm serious LOL it was kinda nicely said! =D

  • @iOpposum I love falling asleep when it's raining. It's so fun to listen to that rhythm on the top of my roof.

  • @iOpposum Expansive.

  • I truly beautiful piece of music. So calming after a stressful day at work. I could listen to this and quite easily drift off.

  • Stunningly beautiful, really great track.

  • a Girl walks into a shady patch of forest after walking for quite some time, thinking about the world that engulfs her. She collapses onto her knees looking up into the sky through the fall leaves of those gorgeous trees. She sees oranges and reds and yellows covering the deep green grass. and she lays her hands on the cool earths exterior which calls upon a single tear that rolls down her face. "The World is beautiful," she said. "I love you, please come sit with me." I looked away. I miss her

  • If I live to be a ripe old age, this will be the song that will softly fill my soul the last hour before I pass as I remember my youth.

  • This song defines me.

  • this is beautiful...

  • We ran for the forest, Each alongside the other, To seek shelter in shadows, To win a moment alone; I sat silently, My ears full of her cry and laughter, She speaks of dreams, I dream of speaking; To bury her here is the right thing to do, I think, and lower her frail body under the earth, I try to tell her my love, But my voice fails me once more; I sit silently, My memories full of her laughter and cry, She shed joyful tears, My tears are her threnody;
  • @elibj123, that is beautiful

    Glad I found Goldmund.

  • ive only just discovered the beauty of the piano.. and i have already fallen in love

  • Goldmund succeeds in creating wonderful compositions that can in turn allow the listener to create so many stories and feelings for it. The sensitivity, calmness, and elegance are so captivating. This track, especially, is one that has been apart of so many of my park walks, writing sessions, or and moments where I can just sit still and observe. What a wonderful thing to experience because of sound. If you have not already, please make the effort to listen to the full Malady of Elegance.
