so how are nominees chosen? do they let people vote? can anyone suggest documenting anyone into the hall of fame? are there requirements? who decides? can someone be expelled or suspended from the r&rhof? i suspect they must have an extended archive of nominees knowing that there's thousands of more qualified small town rockers who could be. maybe that's a reason utube is go great cause we get to experience it all new, old, great,, funny, and funk nasty. we sure have had a fine musical ride

The museum is about more than just rock and roll. It's now music in general, although almost every kind of music influences rock. From country to rap to pop, it all ties together. Saying groups from a certain genre shouldn't be inducted is ignorant. And if you want to complain that someone isn't in, take it up with the voters, not the museum. This place is pretty amazing.

Jann Werner does not own Rock & Roll he is a fawning fan. It seems that acts that should have been there a long time ago aren't and some of them were the ones Rolling Stone never liked. Steve Marriott, Yes, King Crimson, Sonny Burgess, Dire Straits. The list goes on. Maybe he should just nominate himself.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame use to be something really special and meaningful and it has now turned into an absolute joke. I recently viewed the list of 2011 nominees and I saw some of the most ridiculous nominees ever. I can’t believe there are still so many legendary rock & roll artists who still haven’t even been nominated (such as JAN & DEAN, NEIL SEDAKA, & BOBBY RYDELL) while 70’s disco groups and rap artists from the 90’s are being inducted. Since when did disco or hip hop become rock?

@mrderekevan Thanks for the post. I keep asking them why JOURNEY is NOT in the HOF. They can not answer why. The Rock in Roll HOF is garbage in my book. They just put Neil Diamond in this past year. How many hit albums did this man command for years? How about some of his great songs? What is he 70? Where they trying to punish him? I guess you can not expect not a lot from losers from Cleveland.

@mrderekevan the reason hip hop artists were inducted isn't because they were great hip hop artists and sold a lot of albums, Run DMC was inducted for their message, and the term Rock and Roll has been applied now to a bigger sense of the word, not just a genre of music, but a message.

Perhaps the Hall of Fame has chosen to apply a different meaning to the term, but people who are true Rock & Roll fans like me would not agree with that at all. And being inducted into the Hall of Fame should be based on your music and not on what type of message you promote. There are alot of poets and authors who have a great message but you won't see them getting inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, because they dont' make rock & roll music.

@HonoluluBeachSlugs apparently Alice Cooper hasn't been inducted yet either,i'm amazed they even noticed bands like pink floyd or deep purple(probably pressure from the huge fan base)and still they debate.I guess it doesn't really matter i can't imagine i would make a special trip to cleveland just to see this.From the amount of negative press i see in various places the place is tantamount to an expensive tourist trap

Something else that I think is stupid is the fact that Percy Sledge is in the RNR HOF for ONE SONG, but Rush who are definitely one of the greatest rock bands of all-time aren't in the RNR HOF and that's just stupid. You say in this video you want to tell the history of rock, you have to have Rush, who are three of the best musicians in rock history. Neil Peart is quite possibly the greatest rock drummer of all-time and to not have Rush in is ridiculous...whoever votes(and it should be us) sux

@vaibanez17 Yeah and they still don't even have KISS in the hall of fame, but they have pussy bands like ABBA. The people that run that place don't know what the fuck rock and roll really is. They need to re-staff that place and put people like us in charge. Eddie Trunk who does the radio show and hosts that metal show is extremely pissed off with the rock hall for not putting in people who deserve to be or have had deserved to be there for years already. I don't even think Van Halen is in.

I just went to the RNR HOF and almost got kicked out for taking a picture from the 3rd floor(bathrooms and a restaurant) of Lake Erie out of the window that leads out to the deck where you can eat. The lady was dead serious about kicking me out too she told me to delete my pix so i pretended to and she relented. It didn't matter anyways the only other exhibit we hadn't seen was Bruce Springsteen up the stairs and I REALLY didn't want to see that crappy artists' exhibit anyways lol

Rap and pop and all other music genre's other than rock should not be in the rock and roll hall of fame. I mean only rock should be in. Not Michael Jackson or Madana or crappy artists like that. No JZ or Will I Am. Or crazy posers her think their "music" is actually worth listening to.
