I did "direct marketing" (ie. cold calling, emailing) for some time. I felt like such a jerk making those calls all day. This was several years ago... Now, I'm actually considering sales opportunities again, which would require me to "sell" and annoy people, just to stay afloat. Frankly, I can't blame organizations who use these methods. If anyone is to blame, it is the people who actually buy as a result of cold-calling. Take them out of the picture and people will finally wake up.
I hate selling although, I love it when ppl just come in and buy!! Also, when they call me very interested as a result of reference from a happy customer.... The hard part for me is true marketing. I need a more efective way to get them to come in .Referrals are great but, it's been a slow process!!!

I wish I had read your book instead of "Think and Grow Rich" or "Unlimited Power" or the myriad of other get rich motivational tripe gathering dust on my bookshelf
I maybe would have saved myself years of heartache and would avoided sales like the plague. I now know that it is a dead end profession going absolutely nowhere
Take his advice and mine : Selling Sucks , get into a real profession you can be proud of.
