I taught my dog "Bang!" with just my hand. I started teaching her when she was laying on her side I put my finger on her face and went "bang!" and then I pushed her down with my hand to the ground. I did that A LOT and now I just point and say "bang!" and she falls over. I have a vid on my profile of her doing this trick.
