I totally agree with you. Here his technique serves him because he is older, but I have a fantastic recording of him singing the Duke with Anna Moffo when he was younger, and his voice is both secure AND beautiful. I hugely admire Kraus' vocal artistry.

Qui è "solo" splendido, non divino come altre volte sa essere. Ma digita "Estrella españolas de la ópera questa o quella kraus", troverai una delle migliori interpretazioni di quest'aria.
Grande sin duda, pero el mejor......Hay muchos "el mejor" entre los grandes, todo depende del gusto de cada cual, ¿no crees?. Yo personalmente me quedo con Placido y Pavarotti, aunque también me gusta Kraus
Oyendo a Alfredo Kraus se entiende a la perfección lo que una vez dijo el genial Albert Einstein acerca de lo que podría considerarse en el Universo como "absoluto": la estupidez humana.En Caracalla (Roma)en 1990, y los que le siguieron, se impuso por encima del talento, el mezquino interés mediático y pesetero.Un verdadero insulto, no invitar al mejor tenor de todos los tiempos.Claro, es hasta cierto punto comprensible y sin ser pecar de severos: A NADIE LE GUSTA QUE LE HAGAN SOMBRA .
Me referia a "aristocrata de la lirica" a un pequeno selecto grupo de Genios, Dioses del canto, ya que la mayoria de nosotros somos mortales y pobres en el canto...

His voice keeps a good dode of "voce in maschera" while still having a rounded supported chest...AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
