One way is looking at your own altimeter and compare it with the TCAS, that shows the altitude difference between you and the other aircraft , so easy!

mine's a cheap ass camera

kodak 5x. 5 megapixel with a 1 gig memory card which equates to 80 mins of vids or 800 still shots. nothing much.

for 2000 feet speperation u must have a damn good camera to get that kinda quality and detail. which airline u in?

The camera I used was Panasonic DMC-TZ1, VGA 30fps 640x480. It satisfies my needs, so far, with small and handy size, 10x optical zoom(not very common in the category), unlimited video sequense. It was taken through the 1 inch cockpit window. I'm in Sterling Airlines, small Scandinavian company.

He was at Fl 400, and I was at FL 380 in a B737-800.
