@rex666777 I think I fall in love with Fugazi with every listen. So damn talented. I had the chance to meet Guy and it was amazing. Really powerful song.
@mssbeliebers13 yes/no depending on which answer you were looking for. if I were to give you some direction I'd say listen to "Facet Squared" or "Smallpox Champion" or "Walken's Syndrome" or "Full Disclosure" or "Epic Problem" or all of the above twice Once you've done that, if you're still wondering if Fugazi ar emo you should punch yourself in the face
@mssbeliebers13 both Ian and Guy were in emocore bands in the 80's: Embrace and Rites of Spring, respectively. At that point, emo referred to hardcore that was 'emotional' - it was introspective rather than just critiquing the political/social landscape of the day. I'd say Fugazi was more the latter, less the former, so in my opinion Fugazi are not emo, and I'd say definitely not emo in the modern sense.
Interesting bits about the lyrics. I've never known what the fuck either Guy or Ian have been saying on these records over the years cuz of all the noise. I just think it rocks. I can get my politics right out in the street, thank you very much. :-)
I don't really know what the first part of the song is about. Seems to me like its about a girl he likes. But the second part is pretty much just bitching out Lockheed Martin for being the corporatist sons of bitches that they are.
"You should pay rent in my mind." That is an awesome line.
They're making an analogy between boyish affection and them merger of Lockheed and Martin Marietta, who came came together in 1995, the same year the album came out. Equating the world's largest defense contractor with love is ironic.
its pretty obvious their reject the corporations thing was a mockery also i doubt they are that serious about anything conservative but change and democracy
Does anyone know what Guy is singing about? His lyrics are slightly more relational than Ian's but sooooo esoteric. I'd actually like to know...anyone?
Damn does Fugazi ever know how to open an album. This, Waiting Room, Facet Squared, Turnover, they always start strong.

the whole opening of this song is just awesome "your eyes like crashing jets fixed in stained glass, but not religious..." pure poetry...

Excellent logic. Are you a biscuit made out of arms and legs that resemble small plants, Shrubby Limb Cookie?
