A 5 degree tilt is the maximum a unit can be tilted before it may cause any possible harm to the compressors internal mounts. The guideline set by GE many years ago.
With the wiring, tilted platform and the dryer vent, there's definitely some problems with these air conditioner units. I'm sure you'll be calling for an HVAC technician on them.
for the unit that kicks out, I would check the filter and verify good airflow in the air handleer and I would also d/c thepower to the outside unit and spray out the condensor coil being carefulto not spray teh fins over then restart the system and see what happens then if u still have problems-call an a/c contractor like dr. zarklof or a reputable one in your area- ask around first !!
way to go home inspector your very good at picking the stupid things how about temp drop sub cooling sup heat refrigerant leaks the stuff that wont make the unit run properly
The fan and condensor on my outdoor unit goes on and off every 5 sec. My husband has been out of work doing odd jobs since last year...i can't afford to bring somebody out here. we have been thru every diy checklist. Any body have any ideas? The fan rotates easily while off so the bearings aren't going bad. Filters are good, power fine as well. Thanks
sounds like you have a refrigerant leak. The unit is turning off on a safety. You do not want to let this go on much longer. You can also trying spraying the coil out side (inside is the compressor and fan) with water from your hose. TURN POWER OFF FIRST! Alot of dirt and cotton wood get stuck in your coil and makes your unit over heat.
do you know why my central heat would have a frost build up out side? weather is in the mid 50's and sunny - heater is heating - but humming and frosted over on the metal grid part. i turned it off - but it's going to be in the 30's next week!!! help!!!
Normally when frost builds up on the exterior condensing unit of a heat pump the exterior temperature is much lower. I would consult a Heating and Cooling Contractor in your local area. It's good to have the unit serviced annually anyway.
i had a tune up 3 months ago - replaced SOMETHING....(don't remember what.) Some one suggested checking the fan - sure enough - it was going really slow...then stopping. my husband put some 3 in 1 ( or 1 in 3 ....??) oil in the fan. it's running good now. I'm sure this is just a quick fix - surely the fan motor needs replacing. but this will hold us over till after the holidays (I HOPE!!) Thanks for replying.

The butcher that put in the new fan motor should be shot.

Freeze-ups are usually caused by insuffient air flow. Installation problems among other things.
