Ive noticed that most marble/wrinkle effects are done with silver on black then with the candy spray. My van is red and id like to do a lava effect.... (Her name is Lava... :D).....So would I spray black on it instead then use the plastic...then spray a red candy over it.....clear coat then wet-sand etc?
@ladyowned In order for the effect to look right you need to use two contrasting colors. I suggest that you do several test panels to get the correct color combination that you are looking for.
is it necessary to wear glasses while spray painting? or it doesnt matter since the toxins will go through the glasses regardless? i know a mask is required.

HATE the "music" but this is one of the best instructional videos for ANYTHING i've ever seen as you don't skip over anything and explain all of the dos & don't's. i'm already familiar with this tech, but still learned a couple good tips from it and will learn a lot from the rest of your videos i'm sure if the heavy metal doesn't drive me nuts 1st.

Also is the Candy available in a spray paint can? A friend and I wish to test it on an old plastic to see what effects we can achieve. Thanks in advance, I think I have watched about 60% of your vids in succession lol :)
@clive573 It can be done with any color. It is just what you want it to look like in the end result. Always do a test panel before committing to a paying project.
@edhubbs was wanting to do my motorcycle in all marble, but didn't want it to be so dark. i like brighter colors. figured using a white base coat would do the trick. i'll give a try on a test panel. thanx for the speedy reply, wasnt expecting one within 2 min. lol appreciate all the vids. i'm learnin alot. they are well executed and don't leave out details, they are great. thanx alot man.
Ed, Thanks for the video's. I painted cars in a bodyshop for quite a few years, and as you know with bodyshops and insurance work, it's just your basic paint job. Now, 20 years later, and out of the bodyshop work, I'm finally learning the type of paint work I wanted to, thanks to your videos. Now just comes the practice, the goof ups, and the learning, but Wow, what fun!

I think I'm missing something simple.

drivinginfo 1 year ago
@drivinginfo The only way to get it even close to a candy is to use a pure toner, not a mixed color. Then over reduce it.
edhubbs 1 year ago
@edhubbs
Thanks Ed
Finding it hard to get pure toner? no one in Ireland sells it for airbrushing.

LOVE the work and videos, THANK YOU so much!
Any suggestions on how to prevent over spray?
I am still new at this, having technical issues. Over spray, tape or frisket not sticking, or sticking too well, brush clogging, etc. Help!

What do you mean by over spray? Do you mean that you are not using good enough gun control?

Any ideas on how to clear coat a surfboard that's been hand painted? check out aj freeze . com to get an idea, I hand paint them in acrylic so glassing could melt it.... I really want that professional gloss of a surfboard but Krylon gloss leaves a terrible residue and is very streaky... any ideas? Besides having you gloss it for me? lol
