I had served the military before, and for what I know somethings are meant to be expendables, that means during war, you won't bother taking back once you dump them. So they can't afford to be dumping expansive nice skiis. Yea, kinda disappointing contrary to all those movies in Hollywood.

I'm not saying its not difficult to ski like that, but I feel like its not really possible to do that effectively in combat, i.e. actually put effective fire on an enemy before they do so on you. Skis aren't a substitute for helicopters.

@HealeyIRA5 they are when you need to cover ground faster than on foot but need to keep the element of stealth on your side. These guys are special forces, trained to use what they've got on hand to infiltrate and destroy their enemies.

not in russia, nor in finland, nor the north/south pole

they dont train in colder areas because they dont have to

IF they were to fight battles in those cold places, they would probably be training in -30-50 haha
