  • who wrote the song?

  • ZH

    :)

  • WOW WOW WOW

    LOVE IT

NOT VERY PC IS IT ?

  • Why is it that the funniest people suffer from depression. A large, if not all of this group have suffered depression.Tony Slattery and Emma Thompson suffered badly, and we all know about Fry,but even the happy go lucky Laurie has been a sufferer. I do wounder if atheism has anything to do with it (most of them are atheist),I'm not religious myself, put when a religious person is down, they've always got someone to talk too.

  • @PabloBrown7 You've got a point there, my friend.

  • "imagine a society with Skinheads roaming wild and free and not a pair of thick lips in sight"

    Bliss pure and utter bliss

  • dear god if anyone even thought of trying that in the US even as ment to be a parody of the white power movement they would be sued into oblivian by all the minority groups out there with a probable UN condemnation.

  • I swear you cant hear the other lady singing, I can only hear Emma :L

  • @CuddlesAndHuggles I think it's just because Emma sings higher so it stands out more against the boys!

  • Stephen is SO miming! xD

  • blameless! perfect!correct! impeccable!great! colossal!super!fantastic!sensational!quixotic!

    amazing!marvellous! crazy! unbelivable!prodigious!

I just, cant find words! Thank you! :-)

  • Is it bad that I actually really love this song.

I think I've listened to it nearly 30 times...

  • You cant actually hear Stephen here... :(

  • @BrainyBabe24 i no =[

  • @rowena137 hiya rowena ;)

  • @BrainyBabe24 hiya narissa =]

  • Poor Stephen. He hates singing!

  • @Konkles123

Does he hate singing? I thought he hated dancing

  • The British Movement still exists and fights for a white Britain for the British.

  • hagha! it took me a while to get it, but it's quite funny. especially when the men go,

    Zeig Hail!!

  • This might be black humour, but I don't quite get it....

  • Gee, y'think?

  • I mean, it ain't funny when you don't get it, I can only assume that it's meant to be humorous..

  • so freaking awesome!!!!

  • emma is awsome!

    xx

    lola

  • It's really awesome to see them so young! I mean Emma and Hugh are just 23 and Stephen is 28...

  • @summersunflowers no, stephen is only just under 2 years older than Hugh!

  • @iamoneilly oh, you're right! omg, how dared i make him older :)

  • @summersunflowers Nah, Stephen's around 25.

  • Gee! I laughed a lot with this song.

  • Look at Emma's face at 1:37. She looks crazy!

  • :-) quite in tone with the song :-)

  • Ah I LOVE this.

    Awesome.

Just when I thought I couldn't love Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and Emma Thompson any more!

  • Did Hugh write this song and the other songs that appeared in the Cambridge Footlights REvue?

  • lol i laughed when the boys said zeig hail !

Love to see hugh and stephen and emma so young

  • ahha.

    stephen just mimes lmao

    he's never sung

    on wliia

he just poetically rhymed in a funny way ;l

    god, i love hugh

    he looks so weird here.

    dark eyebrows .>.>.

  • He´s got kind of phobia of singing on publick, si I´ve read

  • Oh! The two in the middle are humming. Stupid me, I thought they were just standing there and randomly opening their mouths. *slaps forehead with palm*

  • You can't really hear the others, but Hugh and Emma sound great! I never knew Emma could sing until now.

  • tony doesn't contribute much in this clip. whose idea was that??? he has a lovely voice which i want to hear more of.

  • i couldnt understand what they were saying...

  • We don't have anything like this in america. I'm an american college student with a brain full of sketches and ideas and nowhere to channel it all. You brits massacre us in comedy every time- that's why we steal your television shows.

  • @graaar True :)

  • @graaar Word.

  • @graaar Try Second City?

  • @graaar why is this different from american comedy, i'm just trying to understand the difference from a american perspective, because we don't get much of this old fationed comedy in britian now.

  • When Stephen sings, unless you're up for a good laugh, you don't really always listen.

You only gaze at him. ;-D

  • 'cause he can't sing...

  • Hilarious

  • that was totaly amazing

    i love hugh

    i love stephen

    HUGH IS GOD x

  • Um, i'm a bit stupid, but what is the Cambridge Footlights Revue? I know what the Footlights are, but not the Revue.

  • I know now, forget me!

  • Stephen isn't singing! ^_^

  • My comment is a reply to albionsupreme's comment...

  • Hilarious. I never knew Emma Thompson was such a good singer :)

  • I saw the whole special as a bonus for one of the A bit Fry and Laurie DVD's. Very funny: you could shift out the real comedic talents even then

  • That comment was meant to be a reply to someone by the way...

  • I think that Stephen and Hugh were "Bom-ing" and Tony and the other guy in the middle were meant to be humming. Tony may say he can't sing but I beg to differ...me and one of my close friends think he has a beautiful voice.

  • Ich höre nur den Hugh "singen" :D

    Der Rhythmus is gut!

  • i love how sketchy the guys in the background look

  • Was Stephen even singing? (at 1:45) Oh well, we love him anyways...:-)

  • Tony wasnt singing, or just a bit...

  • I think Tony was mostly humming

  • He always says he cant sing at all, so it is possible that he just didnt want to spoil the song...

  • He was miming...

Its a shame really.. he wont sing in public.. he did once but had to be hypnotized in order to do so.

Search 'Stephen Fry Hugh Laurie Piano masterclass' on youtube and you will get to see him sing =D

  • I know which one you're talking about!

"Play it, b****!" Oh, that was great! :D

  • Hilarious isnt it.

  • Thank you so much for posting it :)))

    per pro171038 : sgamata a palla :)) Sono Alessia ;)

  • Thank you so much!

Per sis5i: per caso frequenti il corso per le Nazioni unite a Macerata?

  • Anybody has the lyrics of this song? Please, I need it!

  • Come join us in the noblest of causes The battle (?) for national improvement The creaking of leather and uniforms Is the hymn of our British movement We promise you riches and prosperity Employment for the British working man We promise you holidays in America On exchange with the Ku Klux Klan Eliminate the Paki, exterminate the Blackie Pull out this disease by the roots A British Movement government would repatriate the immigrant To the tramp of Union Jack boots
  • Children in football grounds and classrooms Are paraded in tiny rank and file Incited to multi-racial aggro Exalted by the war cry "Zeig Heil" ("Zeig Heil!") Imagine a society with skinheads roaming wild and free And not a pair of thick lips in sight Fumigate the Underground and sterilize the cricket grounds White coat (?) and white elephant Whitewash and White Christmas White horse and white rich and white poor White dirt and white licorice
  • White helmets, white truncheons

White face and white willy, white poor

  • Sorry***

*** white face and white willy, white law.

  • Well, actually it's more "white Wille Whitelaw" (the name of a very close Margaret Thatcher collaborator, for non English people)

That's the whole point of the song...

  • Thanks for sharing that!! Yeah, one of those English things that I miss out on being exiled in the States. Now I get to go Wikipedia for more info.

  • Well, actually it's more "white Wille Whitelaw" (the name of a very close Margaret Thatcher collaborator, for non English people)

That's the whole point of the song...

  • Sorry, I didn't mean to post twice, youtube was being stupid -

And of course I meant "Willy" not Wille, (which would be a very nice name though, I don't doubt it).

  • Its White hope :)

  • Hi!!! this is awesome, is there anybody who has the text of this song??

  • Lol Tony doesn't seem to want to join in much ;)

  • It's sung so well! :) It's a bit embarrassing, but which lady is Emma Thompson?!

  • the one on the right

    =D

  • the one on the right

  • LOL I think Tony is joining in just when he wants to. Weird seeing them all so young.

  • Emma Thompson is such a good actress. Just look at her. It's almost chilling...

Incidentally, I wonder how many people watching this now fail to get the punchline.

  • As for Emma - I was thinking the same thing. Especially in the line "pull out this disease by the root."

I'm not English. Did some background work on the punchline :)

  • I don't actually get the punchline. All I can find on the internet about Willie Whitelaw is that he was an archytypal tory leader and seen as a buffoon.

He died when I was too young to remember.

    Can anyone help?

  • You are most of the way to the punchline. Whitelaw was Home Secretary, and (perhaps like all Home Secretaries) was seen as rather extremely right-wing (witness his 'short sharp shock' policy on young offenders). Hence his (humorous) association with the 'British Movement Government' by the Cambridge Footlights.

  • Ah, it was the right-wing part that I didn't know.

    Thank you for your help.

  • I love how the two you hear the best are Hugh and Emma. Oh, Hugh/Emma goodness. :)

  • Stephen isnt singing at all!

  • And from the looks of it, he doesn't know he words anyway.

  • "on exchange with the kuuu klux klan" XD

  • brilliant... :-)

  • Simply genius.
