  • what kind of direct box are u using?

  • um.

  • i like the music at the beggining i will love to do a song wit the singer

  • if im going to start of as a kind of beginner with recording then what is better pro tools 9 or pro tools 8 LE

im not sure people i know use 8

    please help thanks!

  • Was that purple rain in the intro?!?!...lol

  • you dont have to use the amps that are in the computer right? you can just mic your own amp?

  • @25guitarplayer1 Yea you can mic your own amp instead of using an amp simulator. I only did it for this video because i threw all of this together for a project in english class back when I was in undergrad.

  • @koolaid006 thanks man

  • @koolaid006 is pro tools 9 just an upgrade or is that all i have to buy to get this?

  • Good info, but who da hell is that keeps clearing his throat? Next time tell your to invest in some throat medicine LOL

  • Good info, but who da hell is that keeps clearing his throat?

  • Good job dude. Get rid of your noisy audience who is worthless...

  • How do i record my Voice, with an Instrumental song already ?i mean, i downl;oaded a karaoke of a song.. but i dont know how to import my karaoke track to the PRO tools.

  • how much is that keyboard?? does it have to be that particular one or could i use any regular keyboard?

  • The entire comment section is riddled with hooked on phonics Faux paus!

  • OMG...your info was really helpful....but those guys off camera......can't they shut up? lol

  • what the hell are those dillweeds doing behind you? Thats distracting as hell! If someone is recording I can be totaly quiet for an hour!!

  • wut kind of mic is that condensor?

  • It is a cad gxl 2200. Its pretty cheap but sounds good for about $130

  • OK let us go into detail. If i want to use a software what kind of thing do I need to plug in so it will go into the computer. Was it called a DI box? Which do you recommend hardware or software, I'm thinking of getting software, and just later adding a board later if I'm not satisfied with the computer.

  • It depends on what type of software that your using. I am using protools m powered now so I have to use an m-audio interface. I have the profire 2626 which has 8 inputs and a couple of optical inputs as well.

  • @koolaid006 Wait so you bough the profier 2626, and you are using a hardware?

  • what do you mean? All of the equipment that you see in this video has been replaced with newer stuff. in this video I was using an m-box 2, sense then I have switched over to mac.

  • Hey I relly need help

i got fast track. And pro tools m powored essental and i got mic but when i click on the record button and record and when i wanna play it back i dont hear anything. just click clack and this like that

    I relly need help.

  • Dont use mikes for recording amps man. if you have the right m-box that suports sterio inputs. Just throw your guitar though it and use a pedal to configure the sound of your choice. it makes the sound much more crisper and fresh.

  • Yeha man, I'm now using a pod x3 live instead of the amps for recording guitars you have much more control over the sound.

  • kool man good idea. sounds much better i bet

  • you have more options for plug ins and such but micing up an amp will give you a more true sound.

  • I really like using the pod x3, because it makes it real easy to re-amp guitar parts and change the signal path.

  • i have m-powered pro tools demo 7.4 and when i launch it it keeps saying access violation occured what do i do?

  • you might need an access key or check to see if it is compatible with your operating system.

  • Want to know why this hasn't killed the amp market? You will never get as good a sound as an amp digitally. If you know what you're doing you will always get a better sound with a properly miked amp. Amp sound > Digital Sound.

  • do you need a amp to make it loud for guitar and bass with pro tools is pro tools good for recording real music lol???? im lost man with the low sounds i use and mpc 2500 with my guitar but i cat get clear sound on pro tools??? anyone help????

  • I like this, but it isn't really specific to Pro Tools. As in, this is "recording multi tracks" and then one way would be to use Pro Tools. But it was very well done, and I like the rundown of the mics and the way you have them set up. I have to use Pro Tools for a class even though I am an avid Cakewalk user. I am thinking about getting the Eleven Rack, which comes with Pro Tools LE and simulates guitar amps and takes a load off the computer by handling the audio..

  • does any1 know how to record with the samson co3u usb condenser mic

  • hey whass up man!!!! AMAZING OVERVIEW! OF PRO TOOLS!!!!!! THANKS ALOT!!!!..I JUST STARTED USING PRO TOOLS AND I REALLY APPRECIATED YOUR SUGGESTIONS!!!! OHH ANOTHER THING DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE FUCKING ANOING FAGOTS, THAT UNFORTUNATELY FOR THEM...THEY SHOWED TO THE WORLD HOW STUPID THEY ARE!!!! LOSERS!!!!! ANYWAY THANKS MAN!!!

  • Really Great overview mate! Good stuff, ya mates are dicks!

  • awsome!...post more!

  • great job man!

  • Your studio audience are cunts man.

  • bit harsh.. lol

  • They're being nobs to him.

  • is pro tools free and do u just need the software or do u need a real mixer or one thats supposedly in the software as i here i relli want to try this

  • It's not free and you need digidesign hardware such as an Mbox to run it. Look it up on eBay.

  • thanks man, thanks for taking your time to share, dont worry about the fucking fagots, that have nothing better to say..

    thanks.

  • thank you man appreciated

  • damn dude. Call Digidesign, maybe they will pay you to set up a booth at the next NAMM show. Or, maybe they will just file a restraining order. And make you say you use someone elses DAW. Oh yeah, I almost forgot.....You suck. -thank you.

  • this is bad and you should feel bad

  • Now I think That it was his audience that was trying to make him laugh and mess up.Funny. Thanks for the video. Very cool.

  • What the f... The dude filming wanted to be in the video so bad he kept making little noises and coughing every 5 seconds. Very disturbing when your trying to listen to what the guy was saying.

  • maybe he just has a cold... lol..

  • Do you have to use the M-Box?

  • Yeah Tim, You have to use the M-box... LOL!!!!!!

  • no you dont , you can use any audio interface.

  • Actually yeah. Pro Tools needs to connected to an M-box in order to work. The M-powered can actually any M-Audio interface. But yeah, I've been using Pro Tools LE for 3 months now and I learned that the Hardway.

  • yes

  • That was really helpful to me! Thanks a lot.

  • very helpful, thank you very much

  • good job man, that was real helpful

  • omg mbox 1!!!! its ok but the lag on that thing is so bad, so guitar rig doesnt work that well lol. mbox 2 pro with ezdrummer and guitar rig 3 is where its at!

  • dude why are u so fucken nervous....

  • lol the audience at the end lol great vid

  • what version is this and how much did u pay and do youy know where i can get it 4 free

  • this version is protools le 7.0 and i got it in a bundle of other software for about $450 from sam ash.

  • I didn't know pro tools works for vista..

  • 7.4

  • It does fo' real...??

  • omg his audience!!! the first guy it pans too! he sounds like his balls are being squashed when he says like a girl "whats up"

  • i need help man. i have protools, and mic'd my line 6 spider 2. and the sound sounds so brittle. was wondering if i leave it like that and mix it somehow in protools?

  • The trouble is line 6 sound good to the ear but if your using fake distortion and recording you will pick up that weak fuzzy sound the best thing to do if you are recording guitars with overdrive is to use real distortion like on a marshall amp or foot pedal try the marshall governor other than that you can record clean and add a fairly decent distortion in pro tools.

  • I've been using Cubase SX3.1 for a few months now, and it's a friendly use program for me. The thing I don't like about it is that it uses too much CPU speed. What's the difference between Cubase SX and this Pro Tools? Which one is better if anyone knows the answer to it? Thanks alot

  • i personally like the A/D converters in Pro tools better. and the Aux sends are a hell of a lot easier to use and set up throws and such. cubase is alright but your gonna get more power from PTs. the User interface is also better for Mixing and editing in PTs

  • I agree

  • You dont show anything about pro tools that was so superficial sorry

  • this sounds like adam sandler in the 80s

  • Oh I feel so patronised watching this video.

Well done on making it really simple for the simpletons.

  • question, just got 7.4 m powered and when i press record it says "waiting for sync" ..wut does that mean?..it already recognized my preamp which is hooked up to my mics and everything already

  • That was a great tutorial. I hope you do more

    thx alot

  • excellent D:

  • logic is the best

  • nice

  • I just wanna say you did a very good job in your presentation.

    Make It Funky Productions

  • I found a few of the things you said very usefull. Thank you.

  • well done

That was helful and u know your stuff

  • Good stuff, I'd recomend that you don't say " Umm " as much, " Uhg " is more suitable but use it only a feew times. Don't record with an audience, Your Camra man shouldint be making an external noises, You over used Basically to much. Good though I liked this. =). Nice mics and set-up too.

  • the assignment was that i had to have an audiance of 3 or more for this class.

  • Tell your audience to STFU and tell the camera man to stop clearing his throat. Thanks for the enlightfull information, you answered questions i wasn't really searching for but i had. kudos to you. great write up

  • can u send the link of the one you have

i was not able to find it.

    thanks

  • where and how much was your pro tools

  • I got pro tools with the digidesign m-box 2 from sam ash for about $450. All in total pro tools, monitors, midi keyboard, mics and cables the total was around $1000.

  • and does it work with windows vista?

  • i would like to know as well. i have home basic on a laptop.

  • yeah pro tools m-powered and Le should work on vista

  • great. thanks. looks like i'll be needing to clear some room on my hard drive.
