  • hippie fags failing hard lol.

  • SEA SHEP-HERD!!!SEA SHEP-HERD!!!SEA SHEP-HERD!!!

kyk elke week naar Whale Wars, is toch gewoon GE-WEL-DIG!!??

heb de aflevering ook gezien hiervan.

mensen die daar op zitten mogen van mij meteen de cel in!

  • ik zeg goed bezig Fuck die jappen

  • @chaukar The Japs went to close to the Ady Gil, if u cannot see that on the footage then ur a fuckin retard. And they had to sink the ship cuz they couldnt tow it, they drained the gas and pulled out all the power sources, no pollution was made u fuckin retard

  • @Noctis411 Ik zie het al. U bent Belg!

  • @Noctis411

jesus people as chaukar are such asses ...

you can clearly see that the japs just rammed him!

    what a dumbass

  • @chaukar

You my good fella, can die in a horrible way.

  • when they lose in a debate, they just move on to list their lies all over again. I am sure that that is what sorryimsogay2 and USArobot are doing,

  • what seems to me like a magic is that some self-declared scientist still insists that Japanese people are sick. When the "scientist" fails to find evidence for his/her claim, he/she decides that Japanese people do not eat whale meat, so according to this "scientist," they hunt whales in Japan, and thousands of tons of whale meat simply disappear. What a science. The word science must mean something totally different around him.

  • Some 40 years ago, H.E.Ganther published an article in Science, entitled "Selenium: Relation to Decreased Toxicity of Methylmercury Added to Diets Containing Tuna"

    The article concludes that

"A content of selenium in the diet comparable to that supplied by tuna decreased methylmercury toxicity in rats. Selenium in tuna, far from being a hazard in itself, may lessen the danger to man of mercury in tuna."

    Whale meat also contains selenium.

  • The country depended on whale meat in 50's-70's. People older than 35 do remember whale meat in school lunch. Flied whale meat was very cheap in restaurants. Your logic does not work; I am afraid that Japanese people eat tofu does not mean that they don't eat whale meat. Nor is it the case that whale meat from Antarctica simply disappear. They do eat them.

Just point out cases of Japanese people suffering from whale meat poisoning.

  • The findings are scheduled to appear in the June 15 edition of Environmental Science & Technology, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society.

  • The Japanese scientists bought samples from across the country, and found that every single slice of toothed whale red meat — Japan's most popular whale product — exceeded that country's provisional limit on mercury, with some samples containing almost 200 times the maximum value. The researchers also found that mercury levels were higher in whales caught off the coast of the southern part of the country.

  • ScienceDaily (May 20, 2003) — Dangerous levels of mercury appear to be present in whale, dolphin and porpoise meat sold widely as food in Japan, according to a study by Japanese scientists. One U.S. researcher says the findings point to a "major health problem" in Japan.

  • Several mechanisms have been proposed to explain how mercury kills neurons:

    Protein inhibition

    Disruption of mitochondria function

Direct affect on ion exchange in a neuron

    Disruption of neurotransmitters

Destruction of the structural framework of neurons

  • Methyl mercury targets and kills neurons in specific areas of the nervous system including the:

Visual cortex Cerebellum Dorsal root ganglia

  • It's no wonder most of Japan doesn't eat whale or dolphin anymore, because they are smart enough to know it is not good for their health.

  • Wiehe cited a wide range of symptoms emerging from this study, including attention-deficit problems, memory- retention disorders and other neurological symptoms that remained permanent at every age level. "We have also seen an impact on the cardiovascular system, such as heart-rate variations from MeHg, and also a negative impact on the immune system from ingesting whale blubber that contains significant levels of organochlorines such as PCBs and DDT, and other pollutants.

  • Between 2000 and 2002, a team of scientists led by Tetsuya Endo, a professor in the Department of Clinical Toxicology and Metabolism at the Health Sciences University of Hokkaido, purchased whale meat samples from markets across the country. The researchers measured total mercury levels and performed genetic analysis to verify the species of each sample. Their findings were published in the 15 June 2003 edition of Environmental Science & Technology.

  • In their report, published in the December 2002 issue of The Science of the Total Environment, Endo and colleagues noted that acute mercury intoxication could result from a single meal of whale internal organs, with effects that can include serious nervous system symptoms, staggering, coma, and death. They called on the Japanese government to regulate human consumption of whale and dolphin internal organs.

  • After talking to 3 people I know who are Japanese and reading about the Japanese diet from about 30 different sources on the internet. I did not see anything about whale meat being a main part of the Japanese diet. It did consist of what I've listed above. This is what the majority of Japanese eat which is why they are so healthy and don't have neurological problems like you.

  • Green Tea

Green tea has been linked with a reduced risk of cancer in both men and women. Research has found that individuals who consume green tea tend to have lower blood levels of cholesterol. Studies have also shown a decrease in blood pressure. Green tea consumption is linked with a reduced risk of stroke and heart disease.

  • Tofu

A good source of protein packed with nutrients necessary for good health. It has been shown to lower cholesterol and improve cardiovascular function. Tofu is enriched with calcium, which can prevent the accelerated bone loss for which women are at risk during menopause. It is also provides energy and is rich in antioxidants. Selenium, a trace mineral is particularly abundant in tofu, with its anti-Cancer and anti-Inflammatory properties along with a wide variety of other benefits

  • Seaweed

Kombu (from warm waters) and Nori (from cold waters) seaweeds are plentiful in Japan. These contain high amounts of iodine as well as minerals and microelements which impart robust health as well as being flavoursome.

  • Fish

The Japanese diet abounds with fish, consumed at more than 154 pounds per person per year, almost one-half pound per day. Fish that is rich in essential fatty acids is generally eaten daily, especially in the Okinawa region. Essential fats are known for a range of health benefits including reduced heart disease, lowered cholesterol, and improved brain function among them.

  • Shitake Mushrooms

A symbol of longevity in Japan due to their health-promoting properties, Shiitake mushrooms have been used as a medicine as well as a tasty culinary addition for more than 6,000 years. They are most known for invigorating the immune system and fighting against disease and illness. They also lower cholesterol and are a powerful antioxidant.

  • Cruciferous Vegetables

The Japanese consume about five times the amount of cruciferous vegetables as the average westerner. Cruciferous vegetables include cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Chinese cabbage, cauliflower, kale, watercress, radishes, parsnips, and turnips. Cruciferous vegetables slow down the enzymes that activate carcinogenic substances, and speed up enzymes that detoxify carcinogens.

  • I'd like to hear the majority of the Japanese speak, not just one stubborn Japanese man who thinks it's okay to consume large quantities of mercury.

  • "The Japanese diet is the iPod of food," says Naomi Moriyama, co-author of Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat "it concentrates the magnificent energy of food into a compact and pleasurable size." And you don't have to cook Japanese-style to enjoy the diet's healthy foundations -- just eat more fish, vegetables, and fruit; serve smaller portions; eat mindfully and slowly; and add some healthy options like tofu and rice, she says.

  • By the way, the longest living nations eat vegetables, fruits, nuts and fish. None of them have whale as a staple in their diet. Most Japanese do not eat whale!

I'll get back with more soon! Including another REAL scientific article to show you how exactly the human body is poisoned with mercury and the effects, which I've already showed you but you seem to be illiterate.

  • @URARobot721 I think you simply cannot understand.

"how exactly the human body is poisoned with mercury and the effects,"

Nobody is disagreeing with this. So, your effort has been totally irrelevant, like you have been explained to. The question is that you have yet pointed out cases of mercury poisoning attributed to whale meat.

  • @URARobot721 "Most Japanese do not eat whale!"

You do not lecture a Japanese person on Japanese diet. Older generations in Japan grew up eating whale meat.

  • Mercury has obviously effected your brain drkuroneko. You have not read any of the articles I have posted yet continue to ask for more articles while you post no real articles. sorryimsogreat had a very good reason to give up trying to have an intelligent argument with someone who is so blind and warped in the head. I'll continue to list scientific articles to show how wrong you are and how you have no real science to back up what you're saying when I return from my lab.

  • @URARobot721 You point out totally irrelevant articles, and you are not aware of it.

How is it that people in Japan, who have been eating whale meat for 8000 years, enjoy the longest life span in the world?

  • MERCURY IS A NEUROTOXIN

  • HUMAN HEALTH SIG. OF pg 3.

studies of humans accidentally poisoned with organochlorines have adverse health effects, ie. immunosuppression, endocrine disruption, reproductive and nervous system disorders, and cancer (Reijnders, 1986; Brouwer et al., 1989; Jacobson et al., 1990; Schecter et al., 2001). Inorganic mercury and organic mercury have been associated with nephrotoxic effects and neurological and developmental abnormalities in both laboratory animals and humans (Ratcliffe et al., 1996

  • @URARobot721

    "accidentally poisoned "

which has nothing to do with whales. A proper argument for your claim that whale meat can make you sick is to point out cases of whale meat poisoning, which you obviously fail to do, and are not even aware of your failure.

  • Something tells me you didn't read these articles. Every marine biologist will tell you age is determined by the length of the mammal. Looking at ear plugs is a lame excuse used by the whaling industry to kill the whale. Nobody with common sense believes this. Just look at the reference! Fish. Agency, Natl. Res. Inst. of Far Seas Fish! This is not a proper scientific journal! it is fueled by fisheries! Whales are mammals and do not belong in this category. Haha love how they focus on the minke.

  • @URARobot721 Something tells me that you cannot comprehend these articles. Ear plugs do give the most accurate info about age. Just like 10 year-old boy can stand 5 foot, size of an individual is not a good indicator of age at all, and you cannot tell sexual maturity. Nobody said that whales are fish, before you laugh at others, look yourself in a mirror.

  • By the way you have YET to show me some materials and methods from articles in which the study requires the killing of a whale. ALL MODERN laboratories, unless in whaling nations, conduct research on live whales to determine their age. ALL OF THE ARTICLES I HAVE READ THAT ARE REAL SCIENCE ARTICLES DO THIS BY MEASURING THE LENGTH OF THE LIVE MAMMAL!

  • Whale meat is awful for your health, and other mammalian meat and bird meat are also awful for your health. The difference between whale meat from other meat is that it's not only loaded with endogenous hormones but tons of mercury and other toxins mentioned in these articles.

  • @URARobot721 "Whale meat is awful for your health"

  • @URARobot721 "HUMAN HEALTH SIGNIFICANCE OF "

The article does not say anything about patients that suffer from mercury poisoning. Who got sick?

  • Are you serious!? I have never met someone so full of shit in my life. Mercury does not cause poisoning!?!?!?!?!!!!! IT'S A TOXIN!

Here are some articles. What do you do for a living, by the way? You are certainly not a doctor or scientist with these comments you make. I can only conclude that you are a whaler or at least whale meat consumer of some sort.

here are some lovely articles for you. I agree with you on one thing, beef and other meat are loaded with toxins and hormones....

  • Whale meat is filled with extremely high levels of mercury and the mammal is also full of endogenous hormones, both of these leading to cancer. Mercury alone leading to brain damage and catastrophic effects on the nervous system. Hormones also leading to rapid aging, hair loss, erectile dysfunction. Somehow this isn't enough to keep people from eating these mammals, they will only learn when they see their health rapidly decline.

  • @URARobot721 "mercury"

and yet, there have been no cases of mercury poisoning associated with whale meat. In fact, I don't see what sources you have when you say "health rapidly decline."

Speaking of "health rapidly decline," Beef is also high in cholesterol, saturated fat, growth hormones, all related to cancer, and yet, MacDonald opens its burger shop in every part of the world, and people queue up to pay for the junk food.

  • I've browsed through quite a few scientific articles now and none of them describe killing the subject in order to determine sexual maturity. The studies that do include data on sexual maturity all use the length of a live male or female to determine this, based on species. I have yet to see one science article using ??ear plugs?? Can you at least show me this article you're describing, the scientific journal, issue, pgs?

What is the point of a permit if you can issue it yourself? makes no sense

  • @URARobot721

    "??ear plugs?? "

If you google "whale ear plugs age" you find numerous articles that use this method for age determination.

"a permit if you can issue it yourself? "

ICR does not issue a permit, but the government does.

  • Moratorium was put in place in 1986 due to the claimed "scientific uncertainty" of whale population. Thus, nothing is strange about Japanese effort to over turn the moratorium by collecting scientific data.

  • There is no need to kill a whale or even remove a whale from its habitat to determine if it has lost blubber or not, by the way.

  • How does anything I've posted express that "scientific" whaling is an "inherent" right to the whaling nations? If anything, what I've posted shows how Japan continuously "self issued" research permits until they lost their right to whale in several parts of the world, showing they were breaking international laws. It is very apparent that money and politics are playing a role in IWC's more recent decisions.

I really want to know the answer to the questions I've asked you below, however.

  • @URARobot721 Under Article XIII of the IWC 1946 convention, each participating states have the right to issue permits for scientific whaling. No states have so far lost the rights to do so, contrary to what you seem to believe.

  • This is going to be a long conversation, PLEASE explain how they determine sexual maturity and why they need to kill the whales in order to determine this. The only "research" I have seen that involves the killing of the whale subjects is from whaling nations themselves and I can't find anything that explains exactly how this research is conducted. Where are the materials and methods? The blubber studies I have read list global warming as a threat to all whale species.

  • @URARobot721 Whales ear plugs can give very accurate age of individual whales. I do not understand, if you know anything about biology, that one would need to have a look at sexual organs to determine sexual maturity. I don't see any other way but use lethal methods, to determine sexual maturity. Whales do not queue up for us and tell how old they are or whether they are cherry or not.

  • Commenting on their research findings, Lars Walloe, a Norwegian whale expert at the University of Oslo, who helped the Japanese team analyse the data, and is listed as an author on the new study, said: "This is a big change in blubber and if it continues it could make it more difficult for the whales to survive. It indicates there have been some big changes in their ecosystem."

Compared to this, look at what the Dutch idiot does.

  • Japan has since conducted research whaling programs in the North Pacific (JARPN 1994-1999, JARPN II 2000–Present) and in Antarctica (JARPA 1988-2005, JARPA II 2005–Present). Each program has met considerable disagreement in the IWC which adopted several resolutions urging Japan not to continue. Both the value of the research was questioned as well as the necessity of lethal methods.

drkuroneko, now tell me that the majority of international scientists do not oppose "whaling research"

  • @URARobot721 ICR also submits its data to the IWC scientific committee. In fact, the moratorium you talk about was put in place against the advice of the IWCSC. The research finding that telegraph cites actually is valued by anti-whaling scientists.

  • IWC adopted a resolution in 1987 recommending Japan not proceed until disagreements over its research proposals were resolved. A second resolution was adopted on February 14, 1988 recommending Japan not proceed. In February 1988 Japanese whalers killed the first minke whale in Antarctic waters under the new self issued research whaling permit. U.S. President Reagan responded by cutting off Japanese fishing privileges in U.S. waters on April 6, 1988 under the Packwood-Magnuson Amendment.[53][54]

  • Wikipedia: Whaling in Japan

In 1976, the quota for Southern Hemisphere Bryde's whales was set to zero by the IWC. However, Japan proceeded to take 225 of them during the 76-77 season by issuing itself a permit to take whales for scientific research under Article VIII of the ICRW. Following this event, the IWC recommended all future applications of Article VIII be reviewed by the IWC scientific committee.[52]

  • @URARobot721 And as your citation explains, scientific whaling is inherent right for those countries voluntarily participating the IWC, which is an international organisation that REGULATES, not bans, whaling.

  • I have done field studies on migration, sexual maturity and reproduction. Never have we had to kill our subjects for this study. You do not need to kill to obtain DNA which is what was used in the study you speak about. The only reason the scientists used DNA from dead whales is because they were already dead and being sold in the Japanese meat markets! Show me evidence NOW that the Japanese research vessels ARE indeed conducting research. I want to see one scientific article showing this.

  • @URARobot721 DNA does not tell you anything about sexual maturity, nor does it tell you about whale blubber. I am afraid that your field work experience does not discredit any of the 100+ peer reviewed papers.

  • Dear God "They scientifically study the reproduction rate/pupulation structure of each species". Please explain to us how killing them helps to determine the reproduction rate and PUP?ulation structure? Please explain the research in detail and provide some scientific studies of this research that requires the killing. You are talking to a biologist, by the way.

  • @URARobot721 If you google "JARPA peer review" you will find a list of papers, which, according to SSCS, do not exist. If you care to read some of them, which SSCS supporters never do, you will understand that to understand sexual maturity and pregnancy rate, you need lethal methods.

Google "Whales-lose-blubber-due-to-climate-change," and you find an article in telegraph, which also explains an important finding.

  • drkuroneko, where are your sources? Let's see them! I want to see some scientific articles supporting what you say.

  • "japan is not whaling in their own waters,"

Yes they are. There is no need at all to buy votes. Japan sets its own quotas for research whaling, and they are whaling right now. Japan's Whale Research Program in the Western North Pacific, or JARPNII, as its name suggests, is done in Western North Pacific, and Sea Monkeys remain silent about this, and idiots like you are whose source of info is only the monkey's web page simply deny it. Loser.

  • a dumb ass explains his criminal act.

  • @drkuroneko

When a loser insults someone is it offensive? Of course not, so why do you try?

  • @sorryimsogreat2 Laurens is just another loser like you, who simply lose, and move on to find another place to lie, and lose again. This goes on forever. I find it funny that losers of your kind exist on this planet.

  • @drkuroneko

How did he lose? He played a major role in costing Japanese whalers 165.2 million dollars this year, and the campaigns proceeding it. He's also helped to get millions in donation for sea shepherd with organizing events and appearing on air like this. You're pathetic drKook, you will not change a damn thing in this world, but will just bitch.

  • @sorryimsogreat2 A loser like you or Laurens believe in bullshits like "costing 165.2 million." The whole project is some 70 million dollars, and therefore, whoever lied to you cannot be mathematically correct, you loser.

  • @drkuroneko

The whole project? Are you dumb? You know the objective is to catch whales to sell, the whales you don't catch are lost profits, it's simple logic.

  • @sorryimsogreat2 wow, you really have no intelligence, you loser. They only have $70m to begin with, and make $65m by selling their research by-products, and the remaining $5m is the government research grant, you dumb ass.

  • @drkuroneko

You're a moron, you don't even know where they get there money. What ICR does is borrow money from the department agriculture, forestry and fisheries 9.4 million dollars in 2006, they still have not paid that back because of financial difficulties. Then Japan has been spending millions in anti sea shepherd equipment, they boat spotter plains, and used spotter ships. Dumb ass XD

  • @sorryimsogreat2 Tell you what. Research grants do not have to be paid back. You don't even know that. Stop living in your world of fantasies. Yeah, too bad that they have to pay millions to stop those idiots who accomplish nothing. That part is total waste.

  • @drkuroneko

That money was borrowed, ICR SAID THEY WOULD PAY IT BACK AND THEY HAVE NOT. If they accomplish nothing why does ICR spend millions and lose half of their quota trying to stop them?

  • @sorryimsogreat2 Pathetic. You don't have to pay for police service, and Japanese coast guards are police. SSCS wastes millions and Japan makes up for whatever the damage the sea monkeys cause in their own waters, where the monkeys cannot touch.

  • @drkuroneko

If Japan was whaling in their own waters that would be violating EVERY LAW OUT THERE, not even japan could pretend research, so they don't, and you know they don't. But they do try and trick and poison people by selling them whale meat that's really dolphin which right now is being shut down by Japanese people.

  • @sorryimsogreat2 Yes, they are whaling in their waters perfectly legally. Violating every law out there? Don't make me laugh. In your next reply, show how whaling in Japanese waters violate Japanese criminal codes. Oh, every single one of the Japanese criminal codes.

  • @drkuroneko

japan is not whaling in their own waters, they attempted to buy out the IWC to make that possible, but the IWC learned of this and barred 17 nations from voting and Japan failed, they do not whale in their own waters, but they do slaughter dolphins, which will end soon because of the cove, because there are a lot more good Japanese then Japanese like you.

  • @sorryimsogreat2 Now, where is your argument that Japan violates "every law out there"? Boy, you are sooo dumb. It really amazes me to learn how stupid sea monkeys like you are.

  • @drkuroneko

An insult from a moron is equivalent to a compliment from someone of intellect, so I appreciate the words. I know they whale in the north Pacific in an aim to make the north eastern right whale extinct, sea shepherd mentioned it, but could not be there because of their tuna campaign. Japans whaling in the north pacific is just as illegal as it is in the Pacific, and with SSCS 2 new ships we'll shut it down while saving the tuna.

  • @sorryimsogreat2 Where is your argument that Japan violates every single law, you asshole?

They whale so that they do not make whales extinct, and Sea Chickens are so scared of Japanese Coast Guard, that is why they remain silent about it, you dumb ass. There is nothing illegal about it, while what the stupid Dutch idiot in the video above does everything illegal.

  • @drkuroneko

That's got to be the stupidest shit I here from you guys, saving whales by killing whales, it's the hugest oxymoron ever.

  • @sorryimsogreat2 Nobody is talking about "saving whales," you dumb asshole. Japanese scientific whaling is trying to establish a proper scientific method to manage whale population. Boy, you are soooooooo dumb.

  • @drkuroneko

How is killing them managing them? Killing them isn't managing them you moron, what Japan has stated what they want to do is to cull declining populations because they've lied and said whales eat all the fish, which is a known lie.

  • @sorryimsogreat2 Pathetic. They scientifically study the reproduction rate/pupulation structure of each species. They can then be sure that killing certain number of whales would not extinguish whales. What Sea Monkeys are doing are simply emitting extra CO2 to the environment. Since everything you say is a lie, you can now move on to another place to lie and expose yourself as the stupid man known to exist on this planet.

  • @drkuroneko

You're so ignorant........or a liar, most likely both. The Antartic minke is believed by top scientists to have decreased by 60% in the last 40 years, and Japan has been wanting to cull them, and they have, their aiming to cull them into extinction. PS whales fecal matter helps take tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere, so when SSCS saves whales, they more then make up for their CO2 output. You're a pathetic liar, do you get paid to be this dumb? It must be a lot.

  • @sorryimsogreat2 here goes another lie that appeal to unknown "top scientists."

You seriously have problems with your intelligence.

  • @drkuroneko

I'm done talking to you, you can take a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Meaning I can supply all the knowledge in the world, doesn't mean you're smart enough to take any of it.

  • @sorryimsogreat2 yours are called lies, and nothing but lies. As long as they are from Paul Watson, you buy them, to worship someone else's food.

  • @sorryimsogreat2

    "I'm done talking to you"

this means that this asshole cannot source his lies, because they are lies, therefore the idiot is going to move on to somewhere else where he can list his lies over again. When this retard is exposed, the dick head runs away after blaming the whole of his lunacy to others. That is this fool's usual tactics.
