I was there too. I remember thinking "Did I really see what I just saw?" Also, I went to the Mtn Home AFB airshow this past fall (2011). It was an excellent show. The Thunderbirds did great!
I was front and center on this one, maybe a little North of you. Really was more surreal than I expected a plane crash to be. I knew he crashed, but questioned it because it was so tranquil. A low slow roar of a sound, not the high pitch explosions in the movies. Soft black clouds of smoke smoothly lifted off. All was calm except the jet engine thrusting itself a quarter of a mile ahead and I suppose the guys in the tower shitting themselves.

@nastynatetower Yeah, that would have been scary. I was working during this as well as a security forces augmentee on the East side of the flight line directing traffic. That was a long day...

His altimeter wasn't adjusted for the elevation change from the last show......glad he was ok!

i was working in the tower during this, scared the crap out of me. the aircraft came within 150 ft from hitting the tower
