I know you didn't use that as a reason, but they did show him fall to the ground and had Yachiru bow her head, and normally when it's all touching like that they stay dead. Not to mention he was a filler character. So... If I knew you in real life I'd bet you a good amount of money they wouldn't show him again unless it was in a flashback of some sort.
