Well. Of of these arguements are partly right or wrong. I don't like this video because the teacher is not teaching swing dance. It is a ball room style. The name of the dance is confusing because everyone call swing dance by any name they think it is. The names are now all interchangable. If you want to see SWING DANCE watch the video 'Hellsapoppin'. The spelling is probably not correct. This clip shows swing styles of lindy, jitterbug and boogie woogie and charleston all mixed together.
By the way, I mean no disrespect to Dance Vision. They make the best ballroom dance videos in the USA, nobody else even comes close. I have purchased over a hundred videos from them over the years and I look forward to the new ones taught by this same couple.
This couple are great dancers and teach well in their videos, but they are teaching/dancing a ballroom version of jitterbug called east coast swing. If you look at the old movies you will see that the original dance had a different pulse (a bounce from flexing the knees) and a different connection (more pulled away from each other rather than leaning into each other). Also, the original dance was usually done triple time. This video is taught in single time, probably to make it easier.
First off you guys are good dancers and do a great job breaking down the different parts of the dance. the style is very ballroom, making East Coast Swing seem latin rather than swing which is a little awkward since it's a swing dance. I guess it's forgivable since EC swing was formed from ballroom instructors watering down Lindy Hop to its simplest form. However, this is East Coast swing, NOT Jitterbug. If you want to see good authentic jitterbug PLEASE click "Groovie Movie" on the side bar.
This clip and a view of some of the other "Anyone Can Dance..." video clips on YouTube convinced me this was the way to go if you can't take a dancing class, or you want to learn with your partner at home. Very well organized teaching method. I bought this particular video and would definitely recommend it!

This dance is silly and corny. If you really want to learn swing that is easy and
fun, learn ceroc, also known as modern jive (no not ballroom jive). Ceroc or
Modern Jive is very popular in the UK, Australia and New Zeland. For some
reason, it never caught on in the US. See danceyourselfdizzy(dot)com

I've heard it as step, step, rock step instead of slow, slow, quick, quick.
