Seppuku (or hara-kiri, as you call it) is cutting your own belly using a tanto (it's a short sword, similiar to katana, but a lot shorter) with an assist, who will afterwards cut your head off in such manner, that some portion of the skin will be intact and your head will literally be hanging on that skin. Kenshi's fatality is just cutting across his waist, it kinda resembles the actual hara-kiri, but it still isn't exactly the thing.
