I think you need to check accuracy of your video. the pic in 2:03 is not a maid who works in singapore. I am indonesian, she is indonesian. when i was in indonesia, she appeared on tv news so many times. she worked in arab. the abuse in arab is much worse. usually in indonesian news, the abuse that is reported in tv news is that done by the arabs.
We all know how Chinese represented in the World Community,,, It is a common problem within their Culture,,, And no wonder why our parents refusing a Chinese person...
@LittleCreatureASEAN " how Chinese represented in the World Community" <- how?? I am Chinese and I want to know "how the Chinese are represented in the world community" in your version. Stop generalizing, geez.
BAN these maids from coming to singapore, inviting them here is like inviting a bunch of terrorist into your homes. If they think singaporeans abuse them, please GO HOME and dont come here, you are not welcome.
fuck u la chi bai ah u think maid wad very good especialy myanmar maid fuck them bastards they get even jealous when the owner and the oweners son get together dont come talk fuck things here la tevedias
well now after we moved she doesnt work as a maid anymore, now she lives with her husband in a beautiful house, has a few pets and is wealthy enough to even have a faceook!!! because of us, she is now happy! and misses us, she is my friend on fb i talk to her all the time i miss her sooooo much!!! I LOVE YOU RUMI!!!!! and i am sorry for all the other abused maids! if u were one of the abused maids I AM SOO SORRY! if u are one of the owners who abused then u are sick ppl thx for all the nice ppl!
we were the nicest and kindest and most respectful family, tht she stayed with us until we moved! 6 years! she also helped other maids who lived nearby! she gave them food and clothes, my mom let her cuz my mom felt very bad for the other abused maids! rumi (my maid), also helped to bring them to the agency to get a better family! honestly most and almost evry american never abused there maids! it was ,ostly chinese! no lies! ive experienced it I KNO!!! she used to tell me all about the maids!!
we gave her A HUGE room, most ppl put there maids in a ver very very small room outside!! which every house had and apartment called the maid room! but we respected her and put her IN the house in a big room! i slept in her room evry weekend!!! we respected her!! and all of us loved her a nd still do!! she was part of our family! and wen we moved we all cryed to see her go!! all 7 of us! she even cried! she told us she did live with some partially abusive familys! she told us we were the best!!
i am an american! i used to live in singapore and i had a maid for 6 years!! she was like a sister to me!! we all treated her with kindness and respect! we fed her and gave her days off! some ppl didnt give there maids days off!! but that was part of the law!!! wen she got married we gave her saturday and sunday off! we were very nice to her, i even helped her clean and cook almost evrday!
@jerseyjewls00 wow saturday AND sunday off for her wedding? you are too kind.. JK.
why do people 'needs' maids in Singapore anyway?? don't be so fucking lazy, do your own housework, make your own food, do your own shopping...its what normal people do everywhere else! It seems that having a maid is little more than a status symbol, owning a human being, paying her peanuts for damn hard work, 7 days a week. You might be one of the decent employers, but still, no one truly 'needs' a maid (slave)
i have read a newpaper article about last month ago i was shock to see a maid holding a sign board saiding i promise not to steal food or i will be sent tp the police station and will tape by her females bosses, the maid was so thin. if you are the one you are a piece of shit!!!
attidude = I pay her so i own her time and rights. disgusting, shameful and the norm in singapore. People need to recognize that their fellow human beings are deserving of respect and respect means some free time and some privacy. Its bonded labour.
The abuse stems from this standard. Its a low standard so hardly shocking that these mean nasty housewives think its ok to beat filippinas, Indonesians etc. How would they feel in the place of the domestic workers?
we must respect the maid, because they come from very far country to work for you all, they miss their family, they serving for you with their life time, i hope maid boss will treat the maid good , this is my wish.
It is evident that the lovely author of this video (ahem, ARSHIA AHUJA) put a lot of hard work and effort into it. Uncovering the truth about maid abuse in Singapore must have been no easy feat. Thank you for opening my eyes to this blatant human rights violation.
Love bringing in quotes - that was definitely impactful. And interesting point about the Singapore Employment Act - I wasn't aware that maids weren't protected. The Aidha video was well-utilized too. NICE JOB :)

It is people like you, who uncover the truth, no matter how ugly it is, that are constantly challenging the world to change for the better.
I am proud to be an earthling because of people like you.
Thank you :D

I honestly had no clue that some maids were treated THIS bad. And to think that it's right in our own backyard --Singapore!!!
Very informative video. Very well done :)
