  • Hi I have been looking for this type of kata, is there a document that I can get hold off??

  • wow this is some made up garbage. maybe one day someone will actually go to japan and see what tantojusu looks like.

  • Each area has it's benefits to offer one training in the warrior arts.

  • @bigdaddycoolshoes, (nice name by the way ;-) ) this kata was developed by Tony Ball based on the direct defence techniques taught to him by his instructor, Bob Lawrence who founded Fudoshin Ryu in 1968. He learned Tantojutsu in Tokyo and, of all places, Okinawa.

@SenseiAndyTengu - we practice the traditional concept of Martial Arts which includes a balance of practising Kata as well as pre-arranged technique drills as well as fighting/kumite/sparring.

  • Check out the Cobu tantojutsu vids on Youtube, not pretty just realistic and exciting.

  • Some good moves, skillful, but I dont really see the point in tanto work without an opponent. Knife fighting is so chaotic and variable, its always best to just put on some protection and go for it, thats the best training!

  • But then that could be said about any kind of fighting. All fighting in real life is chaotic. I wish someone could tell me the origins of these kata that Fudoshin have on here.

  • Anyone?

  • May I ask who did? It just doesn't look like a 'strictly' traditional kata. That isn't a criticism, I just wondered.

  • Did you invent this kata?

  • No - why do you ask?
