@daltonpatterson98 You're welcome. To be totally honest with you I'm not sure, I haven't had a 40/60/80gb ps3 for a long time and haven't repaired any for a long time as well. Sorry.
erm what if we get ylod from a flight of stiars oh idk let say my ps3 was thrown 14 steps down( carpet) but i look everything inside and there were no cracks on the board nothing broken unplugged from what i can tell i dont think thermal compound could fix it by any chance =P if you guys can help in what i can do to fix it my self i would
@homie3213 lol, sorry I've never come across that one. Ummm... maybe a hard drive problem? (Just guessing here) I don't know honestly, I'm not all that familiar with different PS3 faults. I've only ever worked on the re-flow/thermal compound combo
@whiteshark173 Yes it can be a reason for it, but I've seen some get the ylod with very little dust in them so I guess it's just something that is bound to happen, but everyone's system varies as to how long it will last.
@whiteshark173 Hello, yes you do have to put thermal compound. I recommend following gilksy's guide for the bits that I don't show you. It's been done to death and in a very good way so there was no reason for me to add more video. Hope it helped!
@ii7u I recommend following gilksy's guide for that part. You have to reflow first once you've cleaned off all the old thermal compound. Make sure you follow gilksy's guide so that you re-flow the correct parts of the board.
hey man idk if you still do repairs but if you remember... my ps3 got the ylod once again i repaired thinking it would work fine but this time as soon as i turn it on it goes to yold as if i never repaired it. I followed every step right, the only thing i think it might be is a different thermal compound i used, do you think thats what it is
@jn010jn It's possible. Sometimes you may have to re-flow it. But if it starts to really not last long after a repair, it might be time for a 120/160/320GB console. My 120GB has been playing up since a few months after purchasing it intermittently, so I think it's a dud.
@muxishine reflow it means heating it with the heat gun right? because i did that...yeah i know ima have to get a new one, it sucks though as im a little short on cash
@jn010jn yeah that's what it means. And I know how you feel, I was the same when my PS3 finally died enough times for me to get rid of it. Short on cash, but then they were on special so I saved on the purchase :D
ive done everything right but now it seems my power supply is buggered . it makes a very quiet noise. but i get no lights or anything. whats happened? i was very careful pulling it apart and puting it back together. i didnt drop anything.
@jn010jn If you have a 40gb you're better off watching a 40gb video but copy the re-flow part with the heat gun and thermal compound from the 60gb guide by gilksy1 as I don't have that bit in my vid as it's already been 'done to death' I reckon. In the 40gb you'll see or be told about the differences from the 60gb model.
@HipHopPhaeton It might have some other problem, might need a replacement power supply. Or it may be fried! Or maybe you need to re-do the re-flow process.
@HipHopPhaeton It's hard to say to be honest. The first fix I did lasted about 6 mths, I've had one fix last a week, although I don't know what they do with the PS3 after I've fixed it. The one that lasted 6 months was my own one, and I played it for like 8 hrs a day, sometimes less sometimes more.
@buggeazy102 lol, it's not all that bad, just do things in reverse order of the disassembly. It's pretty straight forward honestly. If you need some advice send me a message on YouTube and I can help you out. More than happy to :)
thank you its working, but is it normal for the fan to kick on early like 10 min in?

@RialtosAnonymous1 hello, please refer to gilksy1's video, he has done it pretty well. I think the info is in part 4 of his 60gb tutorial

@dontwobble You plugged it all in? Tightened the screw for the earth/ground on the power supply?
Was it doing that before the repair or not?
