I'd imagine they wanted to avoid people calling saying that their computer cant play crysis because they maxed it out and they dont know the difference between a computer with a radeon x1300 or one with an HD5970 on basis of performance.

@Alle1222 I wasn't trying to insult your pc man, its just I've had my share of people come to me and ask me why they cant play crysis and when I look at their specs, they shouldn't even try to play Half Life 2. And yeah, it seems your computer should be well able to run it at all high settings, you could try downloading the Crysis optimization tool and setting it to All high settings. Just google "crysis optimization patch" and its the first link. And I'm fairly sure you can take it from there.

lol toshineon is right, i have had fraps myself, and i have recorded my own crysis vids for youtube and they run at 20fps standard, but the difference is, my vids are good quality, or as good as i can get them without messing up the frame rate, if i recorded them with a camcorder they would be shit quality but excellent frame rates....little boy ;)

But the fps drop only happens when the recording is being done, btw set the fraps recording folder to a different Harddrive to the game you're recording, (can save yourself roughly 5fps :D )

Fraps is the problem here. For years i was under the rule of that damn program if i wanted to record a game. but not anymore. check out my page for the crysis video i just uploaded. what's with all this "i hate vista" and "vista sucks" bullshit. i repair computers for a living and have yet to hear any one name a reason as to why it sucks other than "my old-ass printer wont work with vista". most people that don't like it have never used it or tried it once or twice and it was "too" different. BTW DX10 makes a huge difference in HDR and over all graphical detail.

P.S.

I use that mod on vista 32 and 64bit and it runs better at that same resolution. And I'm using an AMD CPU

I have repaired many computers vista is more sucure then xp sure uac is annoying but i did a test with 500 virues only 40 managed to get past uac and only 1 survived a reboot! no virus protection used! and ya direct x 10 is amazing i have windows 7 installed and its like vista but with a decent pc vista runs fine (over 1gb of ram and a single core even will run fine Only startup is slow)
