This was my grandpa's favorite cocktail and one of mine as well. I like this bartender, he takes his art seriously and knows what he's doing. Tip of the hat to you, sir.
Wow. I just made this with Bulleit Bourbon. Very spicy cocktail. Rather bitter too, but I think that's because I had too much white on the orange peel.
I might add a tiny bit of the Stirrings brand Blood Orange Bitters next time and see how that works.
well The original did not use orange peel, it was lemon, but i can live with this recipe because jeff did not muddle the orange peel until it was a mess and he also did not muddle it with a cherry as many bartenders do. And the fact that orange goes so much better with bourbon/whiskey than lemon does. A little change is good in this case
This is the best old fashioned recipe on youtube and exactly the way I make them at home. You can sub the symple syrup with a 1/2 tsp granulated sugar and 1 tsp water.
Well actually don draper would not be proud seeing how in season 3 we see the "don draper" old fashioned which unfortunately calls for the bastardized recipe involving muddled fruit and club soda. Great video though, nothing beats the classic version.
You're video is way too interesting! haha pretty cool i might add. but yes, i hope that i see more videos like this ! you have some real interesting topics
Blair - Those are actually Amarena cherries that I've soaked in a mixture of brandy, maraschino liqueur and amaretto for three months. The flavor and texture is similar to maraska cherries.
I dont drink but THIS is what I would...!
Don Draper approved.

thanks for not ruining it! Great recipe! I know the original calls for a lemon peel, but the orange taste so much better with bourbon!

Good recipie....i would of changed the syrup to a sugar cube and a splash of soda water and muddle that down to make your own syrup.
And also....don't pick up ice out the well with your hands....use a tin or a scoop!

That's the best video I've seen so far. I want a drink, not a goddamn fruit salad.

I make this with a brown sugar cube and either Jack Daniels or Makers Mark, I put the bitters onto the sugar cube and until it soaks in...
