@Indigozek Well coal people typically say that we already have the coal plants and we can more efficiently (cheaper) update those with clean coal technology. I myself am not opposed to improving the coal power we have. The startup costs for nuclear are pretty high.

If not..But if they don't then it's not just going to be Japan radiated (no intention to being humerus regarding Hiroshima and Nagasaki WWII) but the entire planet will be that much more radiated. But at least it won't be in probably as bad since it's on the coast. half of it will dissipate to less dangerous levels over the ocean. Just don't fish anytime soon in that area. But the other half of the radius of radiation will hit most of Japan. :(

The basic idea is to use the motion of a horse walking in a circle to power a gear system like a 10 speed bike to spin a disk of strong magnets over a wound copper wire. There's start up costs but it will pay for itself.

I am not educated specifically on the different ways we can generate power, however I strongly believe that we could utilize solar power, wind power, geothermal, or even zero point energy if this technology were not suppressed. As far as I know, those systems are sustainable, aside from the material that the machines themselves are made out of. But thats what hemp is for.

However, the negative externalities produced in nuclear fission are still lesser than other comparable power sources. To enlarge on your next point: nuclear fuel is so much more efficient that these alternative sources are insignificant.

We can make coal last till the very end though, It'd be dumb not to use it. And it does very little harm to the planet nowadays, to the point that it's almost nonexistant. We've got the technology to process the more hazardous parts out for safe disposal (And even use them as fuels or in the making of things in some cases).
