govt creates demand by supplying people with money and/or services that give people more time/ability to work. that money then gets spent on private goods and services, which fuels the economy, creating increased tax revenue. OTOH, giving money to the wealthy has the opposite effect, as that money is simply taken out of circulation and placed in their bank accounts.

you're missing the point. businesses will ONLY create jobs in response to demand. demand does not currently exist / is insufficient. businesses will not create demand themselves. hence, the government, which is obviously not bound by the same priorities as businesses, can create that demand in order to get the economy going again. if enough jobs are created via govt spending, their will be adequate demand, the economy will grow, tax revenues will increase, and the deficit paid for.

OTOH, giving money to the wealthy has the opposite effect, as that money is simply taken out of circulation and placed in their bank accounts.

you're missing the point. businesses will ONLY create jobs in response to demand. demand does not currently exist / is insufficient. businesses will not create demand themselves. hence, the government, which is obviously not bound by the same priorities as businesses, can create that demand in order to get the economy going again. if enough jobs are created via govt spending, their will be adequate demand, the economy will grow, tax revenues will increase, and the deficit paid for.

If Boehner thinks government jobs should be cut, his job should be the first one on the chopping block along with his GOP cronies and Teabaggers. How can he call for government jobs to be cut when he's sittin' on the top of the pyramid of a government job? The money he probably (not officially) makes could save thousands of normal government jobs for the everyday person with what they make.

They are more interested in the next election then in doing the job they were hired to do. While Obama has not done the job I hoped or expected, the truth is the current economic woes are all the responsibility of the eight years of republican Bush rule. When President Bush got a Republican Congress in 2003, deficits went down until we got a Democratic Congress ($413B 2004; $319B 2005; $248B in 2006; and $162B in 2007). When President Bush got a Democratic Congress in 2007, their first budget gave us a record $455B deficit. President Obama shattered that record with $1.5T thereafter. Tell me again how Bush created this...

@orion7747 Since when does the government create jobs? I'm pretty sure societies regardless of government form has created jobs since the beginning of time. This reliance on government to create jobs for us is absurd in the least. You can be mad if they promised to create jobs, but the same economists that said the stimulus would create jobs are the ones that said the housing market was in no danger of collapsing and that raising the debt limit would prevent a downgrade of our credit rating.
