  • Your guitars have went from really good to freakin' amazing! I just hope that my custom build comes out good.

  • @TheFallenDidntTry Quilted maple, buckeye burl, and spalted maple.

  • Ziricote is from Central America or as I understand from the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. :) Nice builds and nice touch with the magnetic plate.

  • If I ever come across some extra money (win the lottery, perform at the super bowl, etc.) You are the FIRST person I'm going to contact.

  • u working on anything new???

  • whats your methed for cutting out you control cavity covers

  • This is some fine work, I not much into such a drastic style body but can you make one with a fender or maybe flying V? I really like, I'll turn my son on to your bass equipment he might like the wild designs, really nice work I just need to hear them and you have a follower!! I got ya saved as fav talk to you later.

  • More video's PLEASE its been nine Mouths!!!

  • how many guitars and basses have you made?

  • Im sorry but did you say six thousand each?!!!! Thats insane. Dont get me wrong they are beautiful i just wasnt expecting anything that high. Guess if i want mine to sell better then i need to get them lookin good. Honestly you are a genious guitar builder.

  • @Necromal Honestly, that's not that much for the amount of time, work, and money put into them. The overhead has got to be at least a few thousand dollars, and it's probably between 50 and 100 hours of amazing work. If you look at alembic, the customs (which these are) are up to $40,000. The stock ones are around $10,000. I'd rather pay double the price for one of these than the EVH Frankenstein or the like.

  • @algaetae True but it seems Rob Kaufmann of Kxk does just as good a job if not better than our friend here. I've heard excellent things about his quaility control and products but what i've seen is he charges far less than any custom shop i've seen and delivers your product on time and far sooner than another shop. Not speaking first hand of course.

  • @Necromal Fair point, but these laminated through neck instruments with separate exotic tops and backs. These are a bit more labor intensive than one piece bodies and necks. Not to mention custom electronics involving piezos, Fiber optic fingerboard markers, you get the point. you don't get that many features on most guitars below $10,000 (Golly I'm starting to sound like a salesman.)

  • @algaetae Being a few time builder myself i seem to have forgotten the price of the woods on some of these things. Yes the fiber optics in particular looks to be extremely labor intensive. Not to mention if you mess up you have at leat a $50 fretboard down the tube. Although I'm sure he would find uses for them. The control cavity covers would be intensive as well. So all considered you make a good point. However there are many people who make necks laminated for all guitars. Not too hard.

  • @Necromal Yeah, I guess that the multi-lam neck is a bit of a moot point, but I think we've gotten our points across. ;) I'm just a kid with dreams of building. lol these are my inspiration.

  • @algaetae If you really want to start building then i might suggest buying pre made necks and bodies and work your way up from there. Warmoth and stumac make good stuff for you to get started with and if youre serious about doing neck-through then invest in lots of time preplaning. When you screw up with a $200 neck it tends to suck. But working your way up would be your best bet.

  • @algaetae That's insane. Maybe for guitars that's the case I don't know, I'm a bass player, but you can get a custom bass for 1,500 that's excellent quality. For top quality basses you'd be looking at 5,000-6000 depending on specs. Price doesn't equal quality. It'd be silly to pay 10,000 or more when you can just as much guitar/bass for half the price.

  • @Zombbg4 That's true, but the fact is people will pay that much for his instruments. He could charge more, and people will still buy them. Some of my points above are a bit moot, but overall this isn't an outrageously expensive deal. I'm actually a bass player too, you're on talkbass too right?

  • @Zombbg4 Also most builders use standard fret wire which is easier to work with and cheaper, they use the same shapes over and over allowing for jigs. I also use full peices of wood for the necks, by that I mean I do not make scarf joints and I do multi laminates to give more strength when doing this and also put headstock veneers on the face for added strength. Also the wood pieces I buy are hand picked for looks. The fiber optics is also a huge job and labour intensive. It all adds up.

  • @RadixBloom I see what you're saying, it does add up, but other than the fiber optics job not really a whole lot. If you're selling your basses for 10 grand I'd expect them to be as good or hopefully better than MTD's, Fodera's, Ken Smiths ect MTD's are some of the finest basses on the planet built by a guy with decades of experience for like, 6 grand? But hey, if you have people willing to pay out the butt for your work, cool.

  • @Zombbg4 I hear you but again MTD's have all got the same shape to them, the process is ALLWAYS the same for him. The work is in the shaping of the wood & the layering I do. I could build one just like MTD with much less effort than the layered effect I have done. I am planning on pricing from $2,500 to $8,000 depending on the work involved. Regardless, luthiers don't get paid what they should for the work they do as a general rule.

  • @Zombbg4 Also check out these builders and get a quote from them for a true ONE OFF Custom job with your own unique Shape/Design and see what they would charge. All these builders have a couple options to chose from and they are set up for pounding those out. I have considered making mass guitars that all look the same but that is not what I'm aiming for, besides thats what they all do. I'm hoping that there are people out there that want a guitar that is truly CUSTOM, design, parts and all.

  • @Necromal Checked out KXK and he uses the same design shapes over and over meaning he has jigs for all that. Also shape my designs in a 3d sense. His are basically contour cut with very little carving sanding work. My designs are hand carved pieces. I could easily build guitars that look like his for the same price he does. The real work is in the organic shaping and sanding. I am appealing to a niche market which is very small but I do not want to build simple "easy" cookie cutter guitars.

  • @RadixBloom That's true. His are mostly jig work it seems. I'm sure he also is working for a niche group. More than likely the ones who want something more "traditional" with some high-end features and a nice paint job that is more financially accessible to them. However, i do agree that your designs based on 3-d shapes and tactile organic felling are probably much more appealing in the long run and more than likely, with your construction, your instruments will last much longer than any others.

  • @algaetae I actually estimated my work at around 200 hours of labour. If I were to charge $60.00 per Hour (which many trades do) that would be $12,000 also the cost of materials is about $1,500 for 1 offs so that's $13,500 total. So these guitars are actually worth quite a bit more than I'm willing to sell them for. But yah they are a hell of a lot of work. Also most makers have jigs for a limited number of designs. Every git I make is original. Also the custom design collaboration is included.

  • How much money do you fucking have!?

  • for the third guitar did you countersink the bridge into the body? if so, did you make the neck at an angle or leave it parallel to the body?

  • Respect--->

  • holy shit

  • How can I get that tuner you built in your guitar

  • I love the guitars.. but the bass looks kinda plain (it's still pretty though) I would still have you build me a bass if i had the money. All of stuff you do is just great!

  • I would love hear some vids of u playing them. If you have a mixing board, you can get a direct line out to the camera so the audio is exactly what is coming out of the amp without all the white noise.

  • I would totally buy that middle one from you if I had the money. It is literally the coolest guitar I have EVER seen. It's great because it crazy and unique but not to the point where it isn't marketable. You could totally start a major guitar company with these models, they blow away even Alembic in craftsmanship.

  • Where did you get your buckeye burl? That stuff is crazy.

  • wow beautiful work, if i could afford one i would totally buy one from you

  • yur guitars are amazing but the second guitar looks like it should have a black floyd rose on it it would make it way more bad ass than it already is mman. sweat guitars

  • Those are absolutely killer man. You could definitely sell them for more! Look at Alembics prices! The buckeye guitar is totally amazing.

  • How did you cut out the control cavity ?

  • Im not buying (too poor, already have a bass, and probably waay to expensive for me) but how much would a four string like the first one, or that exact one cost, if you are selling

  • wow...you can see the attention to detail you gave your work. these could easily sell as boutique instruments. i'm very impressed, as usual. lol

  • My god. I can only imagine what the price of the wood alone for these must have been.

  • you should film yourself building them

  • Those are just plain cool.

  • If I had enough money I would get a bass from you. You make the most amazing guitars ever.

  • If I didn't know how much work you put into these guitars I would have thought they grew from the tree! The look so 'organic'. Marvellous.

  • Those are some of the coolest instruments I've seen! How much would you sell the bass for?

  • Amazing man keep it up! :)

  • i cum'd :D!

  • dude you make the most awesome guitars ever. id like to see you take a crack at a rhoads style v or a les paul type deal.

  • I lol'd at 2:23 because I thought you said swamp ass.
