@JorisCeoen Bullshit. FIA banned the Group B cars because they were too dangerous for drivers and viewers.

At the Portugese Rallye Joaquim Santos lost his RS200, 31 were injured, 3 were killed.

At the Tour de Corse Henri Toivonen and his co-driver died in their S4 after they flew off the track and the car burnt down. Audi retired from Group B rallye racing after this accident.

In Germany Marc Surer lost his RS200 and his co-driver Michele Wyder was killed.

So don't blame it to the Audis!

It's not only a super rally car, it was also a great regular roadrunner with the most advanced transmission avaible in that time with lots of horses and funtion of turnin off the ABS system. That was a real sports car, today same brand offers you heavy cars with lots power but even more electronics, transmission is good but not the best and you even cannot use all the power for high speed beacuse computer doesn't let. In the 80ties cars were better somehow than today.

Obviously not, at least not a boxy coupe with 5 cylinders. Audi currently makes the TT, the A5, the 2-door A3, and the R8. The TT could be the most likely successor however it was designed more to be beautiful than fast. The A5 is more of a GT than a performance car, and the S and RS5 come with V8s and are much too heavy for rallying. The A3 is a hatchback. The R8 is a true performance car, however it is also a full-fledged mid-engined supercar and doesn't come turbocharged.

The new ttrs has a turbo 5, that'll bring back the old audi road racing days. The new TT is also a better sports car then the old one. Its still up in the air whether its coming to North America though.

As for rally your right, they want to push the luxury image, so they are staying out of rally, but I'm not concered with what they're doing, they still less an A4 with a 2.0t with manual and eurospec is still making race blocks, some rally suspension and thats all you need.

More beautiful than fast? Might want to check out the stats of the TT-RS (which does have a turbo 5 cyl). The R8 doesn't need a turbo, especially not the new 5.2 V10. Audi got out of rallying a long time ago after it was banned for having an "unfair" advantage. Now that they compete in the LeMans 24 hour race they have designed a diesel powered R10 and more recently R15 which, typical of Audi, is completely destroying the competition. It won seven consecutive series.
