  • How visual attention works, fails, and leads to dyslexia (and what to do about it!)

SEARCH "Dr. Laurie Cestnick" "Harvard University" or "Cestnick" "Dyslexia" on YOUTUBE for video. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  • this is a very good film of dyslexia because i know how is to live with dyslexia. and this song is so relaxing and the song makes people think. :)

  • no one knows what its like...:',(

  • Thank you for doing this....

  • ok took awhile to read text

    but great vidio

    i have dyslexia

  • i have dyslexia but i don't have so many problems. when i read a page i forget it qickly

  • i have dyslexia and felt dumb till i found out in third grade and went to a special school and now i am ok but since i didnt see that i had dyslexia till then i am scared for life mental

  • Amazing. So, now if a child has dyslexia then the child is to be pitied? Interesting, and then when this child is an adult we can call them mental misfits? So, we show xray pictures on you tube, where ones grey matter in their brain is more pronounced then the other and say one is inferior?

    Ludicrous

I am glad animals do not do this.

  • @duvexy Forgive me- I am confused. Is it the notion of dyslexia that bothers you, or this excuse factor it presence?

  • It's the excuse factor that is presented.

  • @duvexy. If you've got two brains and one is less active when reading it sounds like that one might be inferior when it comes to reading. You're comment doesn't make a lot of sense there. As for the first point; No you don't need to pitty dyslexic people because it's usually only an impairment to reading speed and spelling so they're likely to be just as smart as you.

  • I really want the T-shirt some it up to a tee, half the time I have to second geuss the spelling of dyslexia, couldnt they just spell it the way it sound talk about making it hard on us lol.

  • A tear came to my eye as I watched this video, I resigned cause of dyslexia a few days ago. No tutors understood me, they have no dyslexia awareness. I was left to fend for myself at work, Iam so discusted with the organisation I worked for.

  • hey im dyslexic and i was tested and i have the vocab of a 16 year old i think dyslexic people can do anything regular people can and if not better so i think we should fight the power. go dyslexic people!

  • Very informative and sweet video. Thanks Beardedyoungman for the share. 5*

  • Thank you SzChristie for your efforts to help raise awareness about dyslexia. A deep understanding of this will help people to accept and tolerate one another.

    Tara

  • My favourite image in this video was the picture of teo young peoples heads. On right is the 'speller' and the bookish life, and on the left the 'dyslexic' and his imagination is FULL of life and play. LOVE that

I am not saying being who can spell good cannot do same. But I AM saying that 'bad spelling' only becomes a 'problem' in a culture which over emphasizes left brain

  • that was my favorite part too zert. it's a true picture i know because i too am dyslexic.

  • Thanks for making this. a commentor below wrote that it's not a learning disability it's a teaching disability and many had given a thumbs down. I went to give a thumbs up as it's truth and I pressed the wrong one.. If you read this and can sympathize please give his comment a thumb up or learn about it rather then judging. This is a beautiful song

  • i gave u a thumbs up bearded. i too say it is a teching disability.

  • Please consult the Ron Davis video on the right of this page: "unlocking the power of dyslexia". You can have the negative aspects of dyslexia corrected and then enjoy all the positive aspects. Good luck!!

  • I have dyslexia. Yet I am excellent in science. I am studying to become a reconstructive surgeon. My trials with dyslexia has been reading, memorization, and coordination. I never was a A/B honor student. But I tried hard in school. Dyslexia makes simple situations difficult. Sometimes I feel like I want to give up... but I carry on. My I.Q level is now above 140. I use new techniques to learn. Dyslexia does not mean you're dumb. It means we are unique... everyone learns differently.

  • Ali didnt have dyslexia

    Bell didnt have dyslexia

    Disney didnt have dyslexia

    Piccaso didnt have dyslexia.

pretty much the only one who did on there was Cher

  • hi.

I was interested to study dyslexia and we are currently writing a research paper about it.

If you don't mind, can I ask some simple questions about dyslexia for those who is or was affected by it? Do you know one?

Please please please help us. We badly need help.

    Thank you and take care.

    --beiah

  • ask me, ive been brought up by a profoundly dyslexic mother and brother, so my insight is equally as great if not better

  • i have dyslexia. you can ask anything and i will try and answer it

  • how did your papaer go beiahpot?

  • Köszönöm, örülök, hogy tetszik! ;) Lesd meg a videómat a diszkalkuliáról! :P

  • it seems like to me we wouldnt have nothing good in this worl if it wasnt 4 people wit dyslexia

  • There are no learning disabilities just teaching disabilities

  • Great Video! Dyslexia is a gift. It is the way God made some of us. Our mind precieve and process things differently. We tend to be more creative and visual. Maybe slower to learn but seem to grasp things at a deeper level. Its nice to see more education avalible about Dyslexia. I agree with the 1st post. We don't need to be fixed just understood and not be made fun of.

  • i agree with you so much!! i have it

  • dylexia is not a problem. people not understanding is a problem. it is not samething u need to fix. u need to fix people understanding. just same thing ti think about.

  • Folks with dyslexia often develop coping mechanisms and skills that show brilliance.

Alex Bell... Think about it, if it were not for him we would have gone without the phone; for a while at least, the net started on the phone, where would this be now.

Great video, I am sure Fiona Kennedy would be proud to have her music associated with this.

    Alex

  • i also i have dyslexia and i think its a good video to show everyone what its about good job

  • Thank you so much, I am glad you like it!

  • hey, i have dyslexia and i didnt like this video. to me it came across as "oh poor me i have dyslexia.. im inferior."

i consider my dyslexia a gift. without it i doubt i would be as free thinking, creative and musical as i am today. so what if my writing is all over the place and i read exceptionally slowly. everybody is good at different things. are there any dyslexia videos on youtube with a positive message??

  • Sorry if you think it's negative, This wasn't my aim with this video. I totally agree with you, Dyslexia is a gift, in fact, all kinds of disorder is gift. Their writing and reading are slower, but they may be more talented in something else, for example my dyslexic friend likes poems and learns them very quickly, and always declaims in the school, and she is very warmhearted. So, sorry if you think, it's negative.

  • i am dyslexic

it should be a great help to all people who have dislexia

though there was one thing you could have mentioned ant that is the low self esteem and the anxiousnus it causes some of us.

  • It is a fantastic video. It is very impressive. And the last frame was touched me, you are a very good friend to dedicate it to Mesy. She has delicate soul and she will be very happy to see this video - I am sure.

  • Thank you, Cirmuli! :) The last frame is my favorite, too. Mesy was very happy to see it! I like that she has delicate soul, I know she is very sensitive, me too...

  • Hey thanks the video is great! Favorited!

I was wondering if the dyslexia related in disability in expressing (Dyslogia) or both different?

  • I have never heard about Dyslogia, I don't know what is that. I think they are different. I know there is a relationship between Dyslexia (reading) and Dysgraphia (writting).

  • Dyslogia is difficulty in the expression of ideas or of the ability to speak.

or an inability to express ideas or reasoning in speech because of a mental disorder.
