I think if this had been a regular Monster of the Week episode, people wouldn't have complained. People only like to bitch because they wanted the important plot to continue, and instead they just got some random Monster of the Week... but then, isn't that how some people felt EVERY time a MotW episode aired? :P

Great song and great film! It was more akin to the series than the first film, and I think that a lot of people being outraged that it wasn't an alien invasion film is a bit silly since that was only a small part of the storylines presented on the show. I think that this film was a very fitting entry and hope to have another film!

This movie was a terrible end to something so amazing, so fantastic that it couldn't be stopped till after nine seasons. What could of been an amazing tale of the show, was instead one of the cheapest money making attempts by FOX and I am so very sad to see this amazing and wonderous thing die in this manor.

The X Files is definitely the best SCI-FI show ever made - unique storyline/script, great visual effects, perfect acting, deep atmosphere. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson did a brilliant job.

The movie was disappointing but at least the main theme plays at the ending credits, which is arguably the best incarnation of the song yet. Gorgeous, epic, beautiful. This literally SAVED the whole movie. :)
yeah kind of it was really about mulders search for his sister and the truth about everything really and how scully a woman of science came to believe in unnatural phenomenon. the alien conspiracy was a factor in mulder becoming so driven through out the series. to me the show was really about the human drive, and how if you have the will power some people cant settle for anything other then the truth, but for the most part you have to find the truth, its out there somewhere.
Great, great update on a classic theme song. Movie wasn't bad, but it could have used a more cutting edge director: See Star Trek's newest film or The Dark Knight. The story lines from the series gives the director endless options to assist in making an outstanding movie.

Most of friends who are X-Files fans hated the movie. I don't get it, the movie is actually what turned me on to the show. What I liked about the movie was that it wasn't obvious whether or not it was Mulder or Scully who was right in the end.
I was half an hour too late to see it... and it was on opening day! I want to see it soooo bad! There is just something about the theme (any version) that is incredibly hypnotic, one of the best themes EVER!!!

It was a monster of the week movie, true. but what's wrong with that? the mythos is at an end for most purposes. continuing the story could result in another movie. hell it could result in another 10 movies, but I Want to Believe is pure X and if you liked X season in and season out, you'll like IWTB.
I'm a big fan of the show and I really liked the movie. It was great to see Mulder and Scully back together. It was also cool to see two paranormal themes in the movie, unlike most of the MOTW episodes.
Like everyone else, the movie wasn't that great (it was too much like a Monster of the Week episode), but the theme was superb. Maybe they'll make another Mythology arc movie and use this for it.

Rob Bowman who did the 98 film screwed the whole series up cause of his crappy directing which Carter had to adapt to.
I'm glad the show's creator Chris Carter decided to take up the role of director, it allowed him to get in touch with show's original roots.
The only reason it failed was cause it came out around the time Dark Knight was curb-stomping the box office.

Violins are fantastic here. Bad it's not appropriate for a monster-of-a-week movie, but a rumored, 2012 doomsday film with total violin-dominance. Such as Apocalyptica.

Most of friends who are X-Files fans hated the movie. I don't get it, the movie is actually what turned me on to the show. What I liked about the movie was that it wasn't obvious whether or not it was Mulder or Scully who was right in the end.

I was half an hour too late to see it... and it was on opening day! I want to see it soooo bad! There is just something about the theme (any version) that is incredibly hypnotic, one of the best themes EVER!!!

bull chips. It was a monster of the week movie, true. but what's wrong with that? the mythos is at an end for most purposes. continuing the story could result in another movie. hell it could result in another 10 movies, but I Want to Believe is pure X and if you liked X season in and season out, you'll like IWTB.

I'm a big fan of the show and I really liked the movie. It was great to see Mulder and Scully back together. It was also cool to see two paranormal themes in the movie, unlike most of the MOTW episodes.

Like everyone else, the movie wasn't that great (it was too much like a Monster of the Week episode), but the theme was superb. Maybe they'll make another Mythology arc movie and use this for it.

God, how annoying. I'm so tired of seeing x-file series fans who didn't like the movie, because it wasn't like the series. thats crap, this movie was like the epitome of what the series was about.
