and in spite of what happened, the dog still trusted people and wanted to be with them. For me it's the most heartbreaking part of stories like this, a dog gets mistreated and yet still offers love and trust to people What enrages me is that puppy offered that love and trust to someone and that person responded by throwing boiling water on that pup. Thank God, this story has a happy ending.

You are amazing to help such a poor, helpless, defenseless little puppy. That poor little dog, how terrible! I can't stand animal abuse, for I am an animal lover, and I barely had the heart to watch this all. You are such a nice person to take her in and care for this pup. I'm sure Sandy is the luckiest pup in the world for you to have found her. I hope those people that abused her will be severly punished and that they feel the same pain that Sandy did. She's very lucky, she now has a whole family of lucky pups to play with. We actually have 8rescued dogs in all. We'll always continue to help the ones we can. I think people who avuse animals should spend time locked up just like those who do this to human victims.

Ha ha. I watched it again and I saw that Sandy was playing with her bone, flipping it in the air kinda and slashing her paws at it. My yorkie does that with a blueberry! She's 6 months old.
lol! Sandy will do that with lots of strange objects. Her newest toy...a coke bottle top.:) I'm going to post new video of her soon. Playing with the bone and other friends.

That's right. Some police officers are trained better now, to handle such situations. Recently though, someones pet boxer was shot by an officer who thought the dog was attacking him. The dog was in it's own yard! The cop came onto the property looking for a suspect, what did he expect the dog to do? It happens sadly.

Pretty. Did I see a marked precaudial gland on her tail, or is that just another burn? I get the feeling there's some relatively recent wild canid ancestry in her.
She was Vet Checked and foun healthy. I can't see anything there right now, but, we'll watch closely. We do suspect coyote or possibly red wolf cross. Both are present in the area. Thanks for your ID of wolves in another of my vids. Sandy does have a "wild" look, like a dingo.:) She's a great little girl. Thanks for the nice cmment. I appreciate you watching.
A precaudal gland is a scent gland located on top of the tail about two inches from the base, often marked by a dark patch of fur. It's vestigial in most domestic dogs but present and fully functional in all wild canids such as wolves and coyotes and many hybrids. It's not an absolute indicator, but reinforces the possibility that she indeed is a hybrid of a domestic dog and some wild canid.
There's a distinct dark patch there. I would love to do a DNA profile on her. She does exhibit some wild characteristics. Also very prominant rear dew claws. Not uncommon in chows, but the mixes rarely have them.
