  • Yeah I agree with everyone here, great videos man, definitely subscribed.

  • Nice video.

BTW what state would you get in trouble for having a intake? I never heard of that lol.

  • Very good info!

  • STEP ONE: disconnect the (-)negative terminal on the battery.

STEP TWO: press down the brake peddle a few times to drain the remaining power in the car. Then move on to the MAF ext..

Cool editing and great vid, just dont forget the important stuff!

  • two things, one what is the song at the end

two, is it the same for the 08's?

  • @nitefrost328 Waters of Nazareth -Justice

  • @SuperTeh1337 thanks :D

  • Justiceeee

  • I dont think you'd get a fine or a ticket for having an CAI on your car. I've gotten pulled over and my WRX have cat-less turbo back exhaust and Ive never gotten fined for it...

  • nice man! is that a Satin White Pearl??? I got the same color, though I have a 2011 hatchback =]]

  • how much different would this be for an 03?

  • and:

    1) -20Nm between 2k-3krpm

    2) MAF fast get dirt

    3) no additional power over 4k rpm

    DRAMA, where is Dyno grpah?

if You want good cai find solution to supply fresh cold air to OEM box filter.

    cheers

  • nice video. So what's wrong when someone see that there is a cai when get pulled-over (unless you've done some show)

  • Todd sweet video.

  • What the hell is that? ^^

  • If you could do me a big favor and do a cold air intake on a Vw GTI vr6 2003 It would help me out a lott.

  • Great and informational vid.

  • Niiice. Nice video too. Thanks. Quite informational.

  • Your videos show the ease of installing aftermarket parts. Good work Todd. For some questions by others...yes, you need a tune with any air induction/engine mod on a turbo. You shouldn't run boost until you have done so to prevent any damage to your turbo and engine. Mods get addicting FYI...what have u done to your car so far Todd?

  • what that cold air intake is illegal

  • worst intake ever.. so much fucken oil on this intake you cant even clamp the fucken filter on the tube i waited a month to get the damn thing. and im so pissed

  • Do you really need a tune job after installing the air intake. I have a wrx 2010 with turbo back exhaust.

  • steve aoki?

  • Did it get a rod knock yet? lol

  • Nice and simple instructions! :-)

  • Is that the same for a subaru outback sport? for 2008?

  • Aggressive mall tee?

  • Comment removed

  • Hey great video's Todd! Just curious if you work in the automotive industry. Your video's are very well planned out and high quality so I figured they were done through your job?

  • @mothershipflite

    Hey man,

Thanks For your great comment. I do not work in a automotive industry, i would like to some day hopefully with the Monster World Rally Team. I just like cars and like making videos. Thanks again.

  • @ridenow05 do you put a cold air intake on a 2002 subaru STI the same way??

  • Best part about this video is that last sentence:

"....then just grab your air'duct, go ahead and placed that back on...... that way if you ever get pulled over, it'll look factory"

    Nicely done. Looks very easy.

  • is it fit to 2009 forester SH9 NA?

  • doesnt suck up any water in therain?

  • what would it matter if u get pulled over? like the cop would want to see if u have any illegal upgrades? just wondering not being sarcastic.

  • @rtisunit depends where you are, in CA they can tell you to pop your hood to check, if you refuse, you're car will get impounded. CHP has a booklet on what to look for on possible modded cars.

  • what does the cool air intake do? sry new to the car thing

  • @p8ntbawlr210

Sucks cold air from outside your car within the fenders and passes it through the intake engine/intake system/turbo. The colder the air that the engine receives, the better the combustion. Better the combustion increases engine power and efficiency.

  • @ejicon okay lol im new to the car thing... like really new... thank you... i thought it was for the A/C lawls

  • lol hydrolock?

  • Bought this part and installed onto my '10 WRX. noticed a significant power loss in the low end. Definitley need a tune after installing this part.

  • @RYANAROUH does the tune fix the power loss? cuz i just installed the same thing and noticed a power loss from 4k to 4.5k rpms...?!?!?!!?

  • @InfamousxDj thats a common issue with perrin intakes. you can tune for it.

  • Just ordered mine today! for future reference, how would I go about cleaning the filter when needed?

    - Proud owner of '10 wrx sedan

  • Perrin has a spray that is a degreaser and cleaner. They also have an oil for once you clean it. it is like $20.

  • cant forget about the sticker mate!

  • dude your videos have helped me out so much!

  • lol "that way if you get pulled over...." now now now. im sure that all of us here are safe drivers and never race on the street.. lol

  • somthing els i just found out perrins CAI intake should be renamed to long tube intake the intake temp is actually cooler with the stock airbox. if you guys dont believe me do a before and after useing cobb accessport and the intake temp screen....

  • that an A mall shirt. mmm if it is.. nice to see some fellow rollers into subies

  • @nigorena

I work at Amall. Find me on Be-mag Pro Toad. Buy all your skate Stuff from Amall. Thanks Man!

  • Are cold air intakes not street legal?

  • PRO TIP!..... dont use that crap filter that comes with the kit you can literally see through it, im no filter expert but im guessing if you can see through it dirt can get passed it.

  • @WhiteGravey The foam filter actually is a great filter, it's a lot better than a cotton or paper type filter, since it has a lot of surface area to trap dirt, plus when it's dirty, it can still flow a lot of air!

  • @homiesquid i allso read that bs off the perrin site... im pretty sure if you can see through a filter its not filtering anything.

  • Hey buddy, I myself has a 08 wrx and right now it's all stock. I'm wondering how much horsepower gain for that wrx with the new cold air intake. I'm thinking of buying that same cold air intake for my car. Looks easy to install.

  • did you have to remove the part of the stock airbox that's in the wheel well?

  • Nice Video! Good install :)

  • your videos are awsome! when do you make more of those car videos like how to install a fuel rail :D

  • Awesome dude!!! you must be ken block mechanic. please do more videos. Best how to videos on youtube!

  • Haahahahha I wish Thanks i would love to get my hands on his new ford fiesta Gymkhana car..... the plus side i met him at his gymkhana 3 car release party.

    Thanks again!

    -Todd

  • why is it a problem if you get pulled over and it doesn't look factory?

  • Because California laws are the worst for Tuners......you get busted for anything it seems like.

    -Todd

  • @ridenow05 what reason do they have to get you busted?

  • what cold air intake would you recommend for a 03 wrx?

  • @remzroller9 I recommend an COBB SRI, with the Heat sheild. Looks 100% stock with the car, and its sounds GREAT. While your at it, take your Silencer outta your fender..After that you can really hear your turbo spool up.

  • Great Tip the Spool is the best sound. makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

  • @ridenow05 hahahaha, its awesome to hear the turbo, lol it just gives me the chills tho haha

  • Perrin

  • nice vids man, clean quality and simple.

    whats the song/sample?

  • Hey man, awesome videos so far! You've got to come over to 3gwrx.com!

  • Man. AMAZING tutorial and sick camera work. Keep it up!

By the way what song is playing in the video?

  • just bought my 09 WRX last week. What site did you order the perrin intake off of??

  • @rwingfield318

    Perrin Directly.

  • your better off with a drop in k&n and they make an elbow to replace the silencer. plus you shouldnt do this w/o a tune on these. catback only w/o tune.

  • what was the stickers for?

  • what happend to 1080p

  • cai goes into the intake right? then what does the intercooler cool?

  • hell yeah. nice vids bro. keep it up

  • very informative tutorials.. what camera do you use?

  • A Cannon 5D

  • yea .. love the videography.. good stuff!

  • does this NEED to be tuned after install? will it put out the AFRs at all?

also honestly would there be any gains over stock air filter box unit or is it purely for induction noise and no power gains without tune?

  • i have the exact same cai and yes you do need a tune, i got the map through perrin

  • @theoneandonly1955 hey mate what issues arrise if you don't tune it in? will you just not get any power gains or will it damage the engine?

  • @DrewII pretty much you will not get the same gains, and the an untuned car with an cai will cause your car to run lean in turn which may cause damage to your engine. its just a good idea to get the tune. if you dont have one already get a Accessport and a map for the intake.

  • You will get HP gains with out a tune. with a tune you can maximize your gain. the only way to tell the real gain is to dyno the car before and after but dynos are vary inaccurate and inconsistent. i suggest that once you get all the bolt on mods you like then tune your car or get an access port. but for a quick 10hp and better throttle response not tune is needed. you will notice a slit difference in the pull of the car once installed.

  • If you do not tune it, the car will run a little leaner.

The only real problem you can get with this intake is that it points down on the engine bay, which might have the risk of sucking water or moisture when driving under heavy rain and stuff like that.

  • Drewll,

You do not need a tune! TRUE you can get the max amount of horse power gain with a tune. TRUE Your car will run a little lean but consider this: First-The rich condition is not THAT rich. On most tunes the target A/F under boost is @11.1-1 or so. Say you are at 11.1-1, then you shift and it vents. It will swing rich, typically to around 9.5-1. That is NOT that rich. so if you get a tune the A/F ratio you shoot for is between 9-12ish honestly.

this is what perrin says you get 10-20hp

  • LOL, come on man. Love your videos, but how can you say 10hp-20hp gain?? That is way over what you get with that air intake. I would say 5hp-7hp max. If any.

  • It does not need a tune, although it would be nice to adjust the car for the new input.

Gains are minimal. Most of Subaru owners will recommend to leave the stock intake and filter.

Even when making the car stage 1 or 2 the stock intake and filter are a requirement.
