The next step i dont know, but theories show it should involve something to do with the new shrink ray, and on the rod richtofen got, and on the 115 meteor ( if not, look for another area!, find a crashsite near the 3 rocks of the music easter egg, and try look for switches.

Also there are combination with the gong-gong's that I don't know.. If you hit them with your knife in the right comebination it will make weird noises and I think something will happen.. I haven't found out the combination yet though...
