O Jesus My Lord and my Master Help me to carry my cross and bear my suffering and death with grace. Quiet my groaning and silence my complaints. Bring me into your kingdom where sorrow and death are no more, and joy and peace rule in endless realms of light. Never let me part from You!
@1Murder007 It's a medieval Latin hymn named "Pange lingua gloriosi corporis mysterium " (roughly translated in English as "Now my tongue the mystery telling of the glorious body sing...").
A lot of effort went into the choreography and recision of the procession, i am sure. And very glad to see the use of the clapper! But those who say incense should be used are correct!! The blessed sacrament should always be accompanied by incense in a solemn procession. i have seen or read nowhere that incense should be omitted for Holy thursday. Quite the contrary....
Worshipping the Lord "in Spirit" does not equal worshipping him "invisibly." Jesus means those who are inebriated with the Holy Spirit would worship the Father.
We do worship in the spirit, and with our bodies, too. Traditional Catholic worship involves all of the senses, and appeals to beauty and goodness as well as to the intellect.
It is the blessed sacrament. They were carrying the body of Christ in a procession. You really have to believe in the real presence of Christ in the host to know what I am talking about. To me it is the cornerstone of my faith.
Look! Whom are they bringing in? The Blessed Sacrament: the very King of Kings! Would you not create ceremony for him? Would you treat Him to less than you would to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, or any head of state today?
If you noticed the altar is bare and the statuary is covered in purple. It is during the season of lent. That is why incense and bells are not being used.
Please look again carefully... the altar is not bare, it will be stripped after the function at the Altar of Repose is complete. The purple veils signify Passiontide, not Lent per se. Incense is permitted at the Vesperal Mass on Maundy Thursday and should properly be burned in two thuribles immediately before the Sacrament. The crolatus (clapper) replaces the bell from after the Gloria at this Mass until the intonation of the Gloria at the Easter Vigil.
I went to the Tridentine Mass for years before VII. There was always incense in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Our church had 2 thuribles to the effect that there was a cloud of incense the procession walked through.
The reason for the clapper is not because of the Lenten Season itself but because it is specifically Holy Thursday (The beginning of the Lord's Passion) and continues until the Gloria on Easter Vigil.
What is the deal with the clicker and what is it's correct name and function? I have never seen that. Very beautifully done

Interesting. My church blesses pratically everything with insense on Holy Thursday more than any other holiday.

same way our parish did it,no organ, a clapper instead of bells, the CANOPEUM OVER THE BLESSED SACRAMENT.

I believe the clapper is being used because this video was taken during the season of Lent.
