I like the voiceover at the beginning. By 1979, disco had become an international phenomenon, and the Bee Gees were at the top of the world. They truly represented the best music of that era.
In the late 70s the Bee Gees embarked on a tour of America, 38 cities all sold out, I believe it was the Spirits Having Flown tour, I just wish we could get it on DVD.
barry was not the integral component of the bee gees. This group cannot function without any one of them - as has been proven with the death of Maurice. And also there are some very unpleasant comments on here - especially the comment about Robin and Barry being on their way "to the grave". You nasty bastard - the passage of time comes to every one of us. What have you done in your life that can come ANYWHERE NEAR to comparison of what these three wonderful human beings have done?
This is an amazing performance, the first live performance of this song i hear from them which sounds really good. The more recent ones are not half as good unfortunately.
BEE GEES IN THOSE YOU HAD MILLION OF CROWED BUT NOW IF YOU SING SONG HARDLY WILL BE IN HUNDRED.
BUT 70S FOR REALLY VERY GOOD TIME AND IT WILL NEVER COME AGAIN NO SERIOUS DEZISES WERE THERE VERY MUCH TALENT AND KIND HEARTED PEOPLE WERE ARROUND IN 70S AND NOW ITS LIKE SHIT.
AND EVEN NO SINGER WILL COME AGAIN LIKE YOU AND MICHEAL JACKSON AND BONEY M AND ABBA.
I AM FEELING WHEN I LISTEN THOSE 70S GREAT MUSIC AND FEEL YOU PEOPLE YOUNG SENTIMENTS AND FEELINGS OF THAT TIME.
they can sing, thank to Kim & and co stretch pants, on a great price from QVC shopping channel, but two, get one nearly free & sing like the Bee Gees, might have a little pain.
I CANT BELIEVE NO POSTS!!???! THESE GUYS CHANGED OUR LIVES!!! LOVE THEM!! I remember the old days when they were live.....WOW they were the CAT"s ASS. To all the newbies, all the best.
The drum is just a loop on the original, so that had to change. Maurice played bass on the original and he was involved in theatricals on stage so didn't play his line. :)
Stunning version of this very difficult song! In more recent years Barry struggles to keep the pitch perfectly on the high notes, but he was nailing it here!!
it seems to me that the beegees singing style is much more better than the beateles, although the beatles are much more popular in the countries where the english language is the main language.the beegees success reached the whole world, while that of the beateles is alocal success.
They both did, Robin actually went higher at times but only used it solo once or twice, the texture to his falsetto is one of the most amazing things I've heared a male singer do.;)
living together is the only song wich robin sings in falsetto, (in leader way) , the rest of songs the four last years of seventies, Robin sang in falsetto in background vocals, after 80's Robin never sang again in falsetto, it was a Barry's typical stile that started himself in 75 and his brothers only follow him in the succes of his voice.
Although Robin has often hit falsetto notes while doing lead vocals during his solo career, for example, the track Remedy from Walls Have Eyes where he tracks a little falsetto harmony; and the song Special where he goes into half falsetto for a bit; and on E.S.P where he does some screaming, and Hold On (To My Love) from 1980 where he does a falsetto scream as well, and, of course in the songs Juliet and Don't Stop The Night ; so he continued to sing in falsetto but rarely.
Is the etern discussion. One thing is to make a high voice like a shout (everyone make it) and other completly different thing is SINGING IN FALSETTO, to sing in falsetto is needed modulating, vocalizing and saying words and to send a message. And other thing, in juliet Robin's voice was accelerated in the studio some tones higer. The falsetto bee gees stile comes from Barry, this is an evidence like the sun is shinining in the sky.
I'm referring the falsetto vocal register, which Robin has gone into since the 80's, I understand the difference between singing in falsetto and merely going into the falsetto register; he's done it with words on tracks like Remedy and Special (just two off the top of my head)
I'm not disputing the fact that Barry started it with the encouragement from Arif, and sang all the leads and tracked the majority of the harmony vocals for the falsetto songs. :)
It's amazing how big their band was back then. Not that they didn't sound great live later on, but in 1979 they were putting on a show! Everything they do is brilliant.
Probably the best version of this song I've ever heard - more energy and urgency than the studio recording. I can only imagine what it would have been like to see them on the "Spirits Having Flown" tour - it must have been electric.
solo ellos podian lograr esta version tan hermosa de la misma cancion- espectaculaaaaarrr!!!!
