They make riding in general harder. No more quick last second bitch cranks when you need speed, no brakeless tire taps, etc. It definitely takes a while to get used to, and it took me weeks to be able to do a slider. Before that I half cabbed out of everything.

easy for you to say, ive been riding freecoasters for about 4 years now and i cant ride with a normal cassette hub. Im so use to freecoasters that its unreal..freecoaster tire taps are possible and so are bitch cranks with full slack and im brakeless so things are relatively easy for me on a coaster...Skateparks are really fun with one

Bitch cranks are a shitty thing to do in general, but good luck doing them in a manual. If you're doing tire taps with chain tension, then that's bad for the hub. I've only been riding a coaster for a few months and I can't go back to a cassette now.

What are you talking about...i dont do tire taps using chain tension, just pure balance...and chain tension isnt bad for the hub, unless if you have an incredibly tight chain...the coaster gets a beating everytime to ride it. you just have to maintain it properlly and it will last forever.

Just making sure, i've heard of people trying it before. Using pedal pressure is bad though, it puts more load on the bearings and the driver ones are already taking too much stress in most coasters.

same goes for every hub out there...you cant avoid not having any load on your driver...I think coasters have less stress on the wheel itself cause of the bigger flanges. but it always comes down to proper maintenance

Coasters have side load put on the bearings when they're engaged, which is worse when you're using pedal pressure. The bearings don't cope well which is why so many people blow up bearings in them. Cassettes on the other hand don't have this problem.

Freecoasters have come a long ways...The new V2s with external slack ajustement are great..had it for a year now and hasnt let go on me...you should take a ride on my bike and you'll tell me it feels so smooth, feels alot smoother than some cassette hubs...and I dont exactly baby it.....
