Uh... there was a time when male performers were necessary in certain male arenas where women were not allowed. Look into history. Employing males as substitutes for females (Chinese opera) goes way back.
My favorite belly dancer is a male. The way I see it, women who perform or compete in a male dominated sport, art or job have to be twice as good as their male counterparts to get half the respect, and the SAME is true for men performing in a female dominated form. It takes a LOT of work and skill for a male belly dancer to get respect from an audience, and while I know a few female dancers might not like it, I imagine most embrace a dancer of the opposite sex who has so much passion and grace.
I love male bellydancers. Because it's not usual only man who REALLY love to this dance, are dancing in this style. They have some kind of expression I really love. I say, bellydance is for male AND female. I hope on of them (or both!) can join Bellydance Superstars one day.

Bagoas, I think that you are very talented and have so much to offer. Never give a shit what anyone else thinks about you and what you do that makes you happy.
