I hate to say this, but let me say. This English subtitle doesn't really translating the real appeal of this anime and small nuances of characters very well. if I don't understand Japanese and watching this with English subtitle only, I won't be fascinated by black jack this much. May be it will be too much subtitles if they translate every bits and pieces of Japanese.... Probably they couldn't have done better than this.....

Benitokage was also deceived by Zen Mantoku - her own grandfather. Treated her like an outsider and had her groomed as an asassin for his own ends and Noir Project agenda. Having raised her as such, she pretty much owed her life to Mantoku - thus her blind devotion and obedience to his orders to kill BJ. She was pissed as she eavesdropped when her half-brother BJ revealed the truth to counter-threat Mantoku. Mantoku then lost her loyalty and betrayed him thereafter.

@TheOceans674eva - Also I think it would've been a more interesting plot to keep Benitokage alive as an alternate story line. When she spotted Mantoku's other top asassin man, with her own asassin skill she could've killed him with a (shuriken) throwing dagger. If she had not died, I think it would've been cool for her to have a sister relationship to BJ. Alot of great story could come just from that alternate ending for her. Great idea for a fan-fiction story.

@TheOceans674eva - Yes! In the time it took her to intercept the asassin's bullet by running to block BJ, she could've easily thrown a shuriken. The other asassin did not see her so she had the advantage. As for Renka and Shoren, her own mother and sister - she had no real relationship with them. I see she could sympathize with BJ more as he and she were both victims all that time in Manoku's plot. I think she also had feeling for him because she realized she had one true brother in the world.
