Nice review, but I'm not as taken with this game as you. Specific things you praised for being on point are exactly what I think are slightly off. The sound quality and graphic quality - especially colors, both seem like something off the SNES, which is fine, but strange for me. Both the 8-bit and 16-bit games pushed limits on their consoles, but I felt this was inferior to both. The handling is different, and the level design leads to too many collisions, IMO. "B" letter score from me.

Well, the GBA had a lower resolution, but that's about it. Aside from that, it's got the same power as the other 16-bit console and even claimed to be 32-bit.

My opinions on the Advance trilogy:

Sonic Advance-Pretty good. The bosses are fun and the graphics/sound are alright. Level design is really cheap in some levels though.

Sonic Advance 2-Better in some areas but overall worse. While music and graphics are good the level design is terrible. You constantly fly into spikes, go through rails, and fall into countless pits. Plus, the bosses are annoying and cheap. A complete waste.

Sonic Advance 3- A huge improvment. Team play is fun, music/graphics are still good, the level design is much better, more levels, bosses are good again, and Advance's platforming is perfectly mixed Advance 2's speed. Also, they finally understood that no one wants to play through the game four times. Defintely the best hendheld Sonic game(I'm including the Rush series, Rivals series, and Game Gear games when I say this) by far.

Oh, and even if you disagree, please respect my opinions.

well i hate teh Team play. and the level desing. i feel that 2d sonic game are better with 2 or 3 acts. but this one has most acts o_o. aslo i would have enjoyed this game if it had an option to have a parter or being alone like in sonic 2 and 3 you have an option to have tails following sonic or have sonic alone. has in the 2d games sidekicks are useless. expect when you need a chaos emerald. sidekciks are better in 3d games like sonic heroes

Advance 1: Pretty good, but the special stages are too hard and the stages to short. 6/10.

This was my first Sonic game I owned and it was also my first GBA game around 2002 or 2003. It seems like I've known Sonic and other fameus characters since I was really young! I even enjoyed TAoStH when it use to be on Toon Disney!

I am now 13 and I plan to buy The Sonic gems collection (or whatever it's called) when I get enough money.

Oh, so you were pretty young when you started playing Sonic. That's good. I remember when that Sonic show moved to Toon Disney. I reccomend you get Sonic Mega Collection and Gems Collection. Mega Collection is best, since it shows the best of Sonic's oldschool days. Gems Collection is special since it contains some rare Sonic titles.

I loved sonic 2 and 3 and knuckles and this game was horrible for me. I hated having to find those special rings in one place in the whole huge stage. The depth perception was off for the special stages so collecting enough rings to the emeralds was a pain. and the stages seemed odd and out of place to me.

And I'm an old school sonic fan. I've beaten 100% sonic 1, 2, 3 and knuckles.

I give this game a 5/10

And this series isn't as good as the Genesis Sonic games, but it comes pretty damn close. Especially Advance 2, 3, and the 2 Rush games.
