  • lol movie spoiler in the description

  • They literally played this song 6 times at Potbelly during my shift, and it was a great day. And they played "Well Respected Man" by The Kinks 8 times. Lol What a great day!

  • Such a cute song

  • i love it love it somuch

  • I love this song so much. Its short, sweet and leaves you wanting more...just like her :(... </3

  • Heard the song for the first time today , Had to play it several times . What a perfect beautiful song .

  • this song is so beautiful it makes me tear up when i hear it c':

  • This song makes me feel hollow and sad. I will always miss the man I lost.

  • @LeOceanLia Hollow. Well-put.

  • @LeOceanLia

    Ned?

  • i wish this song was never ending

  • Hyphy!

  • so here i was watching plague of locust hit russia mind you its 7-7-11 and uhh yeah i ended up here with loike 1 click, "related Video" my ass.... but at least this is a good song.

Youtube... please fix your related video option, one second i am watching people blowing shit up the next i am listening to the chillest song in the world...

  • I hate how an amazing song can be ruined by the memories of a person that showed it to you...

  • poor Ned

  • poor ned :(

  • It's shortness is its virtue. Much like Danny Devito in that respect. Seriously though, it's a beautiful song, and it's just as long as it needs to be. Such a longing...

  • @SethHesio funniest reference!!! hahaha!

  • I like a lot of Zombies but just not this one --- sorry! I will just go listen to She's Not There.

  • @Gregorius1953 "She's Not There" sent shivers down (or up?) my spine when I used listen to it in the 1960's... and also "Just Out of Reach", which featured in the movie "Bunny Lake is Missing", made in 1965. Those days, long past, are now forever, just out of reach...

  • Ow. This song makes my insides hurt.

  • I also wish that this song was longer, but when you think about it, it's kind of perfect the way it is. Obviously it's about a terrible heartbreak and the sounds before and after it has it sound like the song was almost too much to bare the way it is. To extend the song would be an extension of the heartbreak.

  • beautiful

  • i like how it just has a huge spoiler in the description. hahaha

  • My first love played this song for me 4 years ago and tears started falling from my eyes. The meaning of the song and the sound of it is just beautiful.

  • @bigg489 "If I Fell" is better.

  • @mattheus5012 Yeah, it sounds pretty close. Guess it must be a tribute.

  • @ReddFoxx1562 - that is just mean. I was just trying to convey my feelings, as you obviously convey yours, in a hurtful manner.

  • @ReddFoxx1562 - that's just

  • The beatles were crap

  • I would say I like this song if it weren't for the fact that it's a blatant rip-off of "If I Fell" by The Beatles off of "A Hard Day's Night." I appreciate the Beatles homage, but don't pass this off as your own.

  • @bigg489 exactly where are the lyrics or the melody copied? I'm a huge beatles and zombies fan, and the only thing resembling that song seems to be the sentiment, which i'm guessing there are lost of songs written throughout the course of history on this topic...

my fiance wonders if you have fetal alcohol syndrome.

  • @bigg489 exactly where are the lyrics and/or melody copied? I am a fan of both bands and it seems that the only similarity is the sentiment. What crime is there in that? I'm sure lots of songs have been written on this topic throughout the course of history, and we wouldn't say it's plagiarism.

  • i love the zombies, especially this song. i agree with others that this song should've been longer!!

  • sounds like the beates

  • This song really hits close to home.

  • Gosh, this is a sad song (and the vocals are just fantastic). Some songs are great, but sound dated as time goes on. This song is just timeless.

  • Such a haunting voice,so haunting is my favorite one, this and I'll call you mine, thanks guys

  • It's been a long time since I heard this song!

  • very nice!

  • i love Lenka's cover of this! it is longer too! I love Lenka!!!!

  • @jamjarduignan

    you're an idiot.

  • This song is very similar to "If I Fell" by the Beatles.

I just noticed that today and thought it was cool. I'm not saying the Zombies stole it!!! But that it seems like something of a tribute. This is my favorite movie and I love this song, love the beatles, and wondered if anyone else agrees.

  • @karizma249 I do.

  • @karizma249 Yeah, not just you! I noticed the same thing.

  • This song is simply beautiful. There are no other words to describe it.

  • I love The Zombies <3 this is one of my favorite song by them

  • the life aquatic is not only one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, but it's also one of the most touching as well.

just hearing this song makes my eyes well up.

  • this song then staralfluur just make for the saddest ending

  • @mrocean468 staralfur at the end made it a happy ending I thought. I mean for once in a wes anderson movie, someone aims to accomplish something and then they actually do.

  • @ApatheticBen well it was a doubleheader, he loses his son, but makes peace with his enemy, it's my favourite of all his endings

  • I just watched this film and i was sitting in tears for the last 20 mins thinking Ned would come back :'(

this song went perfectly with the scene!

  • I've never seen so many electric jellyfish in my life.

  • This is how I feel about one hell of a hot lady. Especially the part about "I can tell the way you smile". Too many games though.

  • Its so sad when Ned dies. D:

  • if ever a song should've been longer, this is it.

  • @demoskratia Echoes?

  • @demoskratia as much as i love this song, as i was considering the subject matter of the song, the reason it must be short struck me.

the song is all build up, with no pay off. the lyrics show that though he loves the subject of the song, he feels he must hide it. the reason being it is a song from the perspective of the cowardly romantic, loving another from afar, waiting for a sign that she might like him, instead of simply expressing his love.

  • @demoskratia that might be why its so great, though..

  • @demoskratia But the length of this song is one of the aspects of it that makes it so fantastic. It makes you want to listen to it over and over again :)

  • Where can I download this?

  • @AceTrainerJake

    Find it out :)

  • Its chilling how this song describes exactly how i feel

  • chilling as in weird, or chilling as in relaxed and chillin' - knawhaimsayin???

  • The former, obviously.

  • @Icecreamsocialist1 I am right there with you.

  • Im loving the Zombies! just became a fan

  • man, this has got to be the only guy in the world who can pull off this song like that

  • God, "The Air that I Breathe", anyone?

  • the song was sooo dramatic for me, i cried in the movie with this song, and in real life when my girlfriend broke up with me, i would listen to this song for hours.

  • rofl

  • i feel for you bro

  • If I actually pay attention to the lyrics, it's already enough to make me tear up. But Ned's death in the movie just makes it twice as effective

  • it's sigur ros, i think but I can't remember what song it is

  • whats the song when they see the jaguar shark at the bottom of the water called?

  • i'm pretty sure the song is "Starálfur"

  • It's "Staralfur", sung by Sigur Ros, from the album "Ágætis byrjun"., released in 1999.

  • I first heard this song when I was really high. My friend put this song on and I just went into a trance. I smoke to this song as often as I can now. It's so beautiful.

  • Fuck! They wired it!

  • jesus...so awesome

  • what was that for??? thats cause i owed you one!! but..but you gave me a warning...lol good movie good song

  • this song always make me think of that scene, I always end up crying.

  • This song was in Dear Wendy ;)

  • This song is a ruby. It's a perfect gem, wrapped in your favorite candy wrapper.

  • Klaus was supposed to inspect the god damn pushrod

  • lol nice

  • stevesie ! i think the pushrod fell

  • So great to hear after so many years. - .... Miss the LP

  • Solo singing like this is really brave

  • This song is hard for me but it makes me smile:)

  • it starts when you see steve carrry him to the beach and he is dead there

  • No tears shed, but I cried

  • sends shivers

  • Isn't it Kingsley "Ned" Zissou ?

  • According to Steve, yes, but his real name is Ned.

  • RIP Ned Kingsley

  • only wish it was longer

  • I am going to see them next week, this is a weird song.

  • i love this movie. im tryin to find the techno music though and i cant find it :(

  • They're s by Mark Mothersbaugh and the songs were made for the movie so you would probably have to get them off the soundtrack

  • well i finally found it. the name of it is Ping Island/ Lightning Strike Rescue Ops

  • Favourite song by them.Beautiful vocals.

  • brilhante

  • gotta love that voice!

  • Great song, great movie!

  • The Zombies have won me over.yet again.

  • amazing....

  • oh wow,, its been ages since the last time i heard this and i still know it word by word of this song,i was probably 7 yrs old at the time, thanks for sharing ,,,

  • i had a crush on a tall,blue-eyed guy who worked at a coffee house and he wore buddy holly glasses. i didnt even talk to himt he first yr i started going there. then we started to chat everytime a came in after i got up the nerves to introduce myself. he was sweet, and cute and quirky. but then the coffee sold out and he left. he was an artist and musician too. this was my song to him....so sad. i really thought we were meant to be. this song even came on at the shop too.

  • wes anderson is amazing and so are the soundtrack on his movies.

still this song is haunting... to anyone who can really relate and sadly i think that most people can.

  • wes anderson is awesome

  • I second this.

  • third

  • fourth

  • This song is so sad, simple and beautiful. Always brings tears to my eyes.

  • "I will say the things i want to say tonight"

  • I once slipped the lyrics to this song to the first girl I ever fell in love with.

    It didn't work.

But I wouldn't take it back.

  • Did you try it on some other girl? Second time's a charm...?

  • Nietzsche? Love? You have made my day. I mean that with all my heart. Someone else gets it.

  • @NietzscheSmietzsche

    Didn't work for me either.

  • @NietzscheSmietzsche in should have. Best wishes. Hope it turned out all right.

  • @NietzscheSmietzsche i sung this to a girl in the middle of this park in public nd thats how i won her heart.. so thats for me nd yuu mann !!!! lol zombies forever

  • @TheHeelflipg good story!

  • The Zombies Rock!!!!

  • love it :'(

  • luv it . how wonderful !

  • Royal Tenenbaums was a great movie which also used music well but I like Life Aquatic more, this song here is one of the reasons.

  • even though it's old I think its beatuiful a total fav!

  • Even though? "Old" music is ten times better than the crap that comes out today.

  • I totally disagree with this attitude. People said exactly the same thing about "old" music in the sixties referring to the fifties back to classical and God knows what else. It's an ignorant thing to say. Music that 'comes out today' isn't JUST what you see on TV.

  • I wil agree that there is a lot of hot garbage out there..like there was before and there always will be. There was so much great music being made in the late sixties..simpler times. Success was not dollar driven, and a lot of creativity going on.

  • no, no, i used to think that too i rally did. sure there is some good stuff out there these days. but for the most part music has gone downhill. it has to do with the people listening to the music as well as the "musicians". its a vicious cycle.

  • Sometimes the problem with people thinking music is bad is that their own tastes arent refined enough to appreciate what a musician is doing. Take jazz for example. One person may listen to Coltrane and think "My god, this guys not playing music, hes just playing gibberish" but to a musician, or someone who knows what theyre hearing, they may think "Holy shit how did he just do that? What made him think to do that?" So, i would say its a matter of preference, taste, and knowledge.

  • i fully agree with that

  • I completely second that.

  • You got it brother.

  • @QberthHolocaust Damn right son.

  • @QberthHolocaust Yeah the difference is that music today is made for right now and this is timeless.

  • great song

  • i loved the film, as did I the royal tens, but I am confused as to why Rushmore is rarely, if ever, mentioned. Most folks I talk to who love the tenns have scarcely heard of it. je no se pa

  • wes anderson films are excellent. you should see the darjeeling limited too if you haven't. plus bottle rocket his first film is fabulous.

  • I do not agree. This film captures all of the emotions of the ocean. Loss, joy, love, and hope. To different people, this film means different things. I think it is equally important in Wes Anderson's works as is the Royal Tennenbaums.

  • going to see the zombies on july 11 at the fillmore in nyc and july 13 at west hampton beach performing arts center. They are on tour all of July in the states and canada.

  • Everyone who's saying that the Life Aquatic is, "the best film ever" didn't see the Royal Tenenbaums.

I do love this movie but theres no way it's better than Royal Tenenbaums.

  • The life aquatic has to be one of the best films ever. There is NO bad writing anywhere, the humor is subtle and expresive at the same time. And the characters are amazing. Then its topped off with the perfict songs for each segment. This movie amazes me.

  • ♥

  • life aquatic, best film ever. the music only proves this at every turn. the use of this song is one of the most memorable and poignant moments ever

  • when Ned Died

  • what part did this play in...what scene

  • When Ned Plimpton dies. Try reading the description next time.

  • but you didnt write what scene.

  • exactly!

  • this part of the movie made me cry when i first watched it...

  • This song reminds me of someone (fancypants) and it made me cry the first time I heard it

  • bernard?

  • ITS like really deep.. but it doesnt give the vibe like hey this is a deep song. so i love this song. end of story.

  • i simply love this song.

  • just beautiful, so wistful and delicate. and the use of it in Life Aquatic was so memorable, th perfect song.

  • Best kind of music right there. Poetry put to a melody...

  • absolute poetry

  • Aww.. I really think this is adoreble.

  • this one's still amazing though

  • I like the playradioplay cover
