@crue1230 He's LEFT handed. AND he plays upside down, like Dick Dale. Your picking hand determines your handedness, NOT your fretting hand. Jimi was left handed, but he played normally, with the bass strings ON THE TOP, just like a normal right handed player. Eric plays a regular guitar upside down and backwards with the bass strings ON THE BOTTOM, which is the equivalent of a right-handed person playing a left-handed guitar upside down and backwards.
every time i ever jammed with EG , back in the day when i used to live in memphis , i always said I would have to stand on my head and look in a mirror to pick up any licks off him . imagine living in the same town and jamming with Eric Gales and Shawn Lane . talk about intimidation !!!
@Augustwi if you are talking about the quality of the sound coming from the guitar/amp that's one thing and maybe I can understand your NES analogy because maybe it was a bit subtle. but the playing itself didnt in any way disrespect the "integrity" of the song. Hendrix put his soul into everything he played. Eric Gales does the exact same thing but you will never hear him play Little Wing the same way twice. Reason being is Eric is a true artist who mixes many styles and influences into one
@mysterybat35 You are right I should restate my opinion. The beginning was great it sounded like Little Wing with his own bluesy/jazzy feel to it. However, once he reached the solo Gales seemed to just hit a bunch of notes and lost that feeling he had building in the beginning. So in other words he started great, in the middle he lost me and then at the end he started to pick it back up but I was already to far gone. Also thanks for the well thought out reply rather than just berating me =).
@67goldtops I went to urbandictionary and looked up WANK.. lol interesting but are u sure you didn't mean Wack? even still I don't see how either terms apply to this video...
@keke02 I figured out a few of the chords... playing them on a right handed guitar, playing right-handed and strung normally is possible, but unless you have really big hangs they may hurt your hand a little.. my hands are neither small nor large but medium sized and playing those chords made mine hurt a little .. hahaha
Eric, get your stuff together bro. You are too talented to wind up just another rock/blues cliche'. Seriously, do whatever you have to do to kick that garbage and keep sharing your gift with the world!!!
@DafranchYze I went to a guitar clinic and signing of E.G. and that guy is amazing! but Yes its hard to copy him but he said he learned everything from a right-hander. he just had to figure out how he had to do this so it worked for him.. he has some amazing ass stories too!
Wow, simply awesome. This guy deserves to be on the cover of the Guitar magazines........ I know why they are avoiding him ......lol. Good ole US of A.
I don't care how may time I watch Eric Gales play, I STILL can't wrap my head around how he can play SO good with the strings upside down!! I know it's what he's used to and it's just how he plays, but MAN!! It's a real head scratcher for me.
This guy is not left-handed, he plays the guitar upside down..

@jspartacus no he frets with his right hand, while most other players fret with their left hands. This is just a right handed guitar.

not a fan he didnt respect the integrity of the song and made it sound like NES music at places. Interesting way of playing guitar though.

I've seen Eric live several times and enjoyed his playing. But I'll go on record as saying this performance is WANK in every sense of the word.

To wank. It's a British slang term for masturbation. So yeah, it clearly applies to this performance.

not only left hander, he doesn't reverse the strings (like jimmy did), so the strings are completely backwards as well, (like Albert King)
