This is exactly why i dont like nitro helis over electric. they are always having engine problems and sometimes dont even start up. ive seen big nitro helis fail more times bc of motor problems than any big electric. i also probably wouldnt put a cheap rx in a really expensive heli like that. this video really makes me love my walkera micros lmao but another great video xjet. i always go out flying my helis knowing its only a matter of time before something goes wrong! thats the world of heli's
there just are .... coincidences, two heli's in one day, in a place struggling with mechanical problems have. That's just "Murphy's Law". The autorotation clutch and centrifugal clutch are nevertheless highly stressed components. I do not think it can or can not with the pilot has to do, or possibly a "cheap receiver". All I see when you are on the court high end materials and if the detail part of the ON times fall victim to wear, then so be it. Thats our hobby, fun and risk.
I just watched bruces rc model reviews channel about the fasst compatible reciever and before anything is said about my opinion I believe that if the fail safe was set correctly that if the reciever went out of range that the throttle should have been set to engine off.
But thats just basics idnit.
Besides I wouldn't even dream of putting a $23 rx in a $3000 + 90 size, heck I wouldn't put one in a 50.
@livvidd you may get crash tackled from eight sides before you could get to the camera man and the chances are you would be KOed by falling helicopters times three from above. If that did not change your mind then tripping and flipping on the wreckage on your arse would be a "neck minute" moment on youtube of Livvidd eating tail rotor from .... :-). the wind on the day took the models away from comfortable eyesight and the delayed sound to sight ratio upset ! the
I purely am going buy what I saw and the first flight the pilot clearly lost orientation saved but then rolled it straight in the ground any pilot that knows the basics would have either gotten the heli into an orientation that they were comfortable with or if it was going in to hit throttle hold before the fact.
I didnt mean to rub you the wrong way I was just stating my opinion and you may have read into it wrong, I didnt know you guys were so sensitive by the way bruce carries on ,Harden UP!
I'm sure they're fun once you learn how to fly, but it seems like everytime one goes down it just disintegrates completely. Think I'll stick to quadcopters myself.
I would love to go to this field. So I could meet the camera man and punch his fucking lights out! Smart ass needs a lesson in how to act around his fellow humans.
@xjet Well, you do tend to get that, with Whitefullas' Boomerang Tryhards ; they're never much good when their Noisy Smells go wrongway buggarup... I like Autorotating Rotary-Wing Sailplanes, personally. Gyroscopically stabilised, guided by secondary & tertiary Aero-Gyroscopic coupling. Not as forcefully brutish, perhaps, but a more elegant concept ; and they can be carved out of local hardwood . (LOL. Jokularis Jokulii !).
What were the problems? The first helicopter then flew? We have not seen, by the way, what were the rules of the club? One said that had to filming any incidents, it's right? I saw it fall only one! Lol... :-)
How Strange! We lost two Heli's at our field today, An Esky Belt CPX and a Trex 450. All the way over here in England, Obviously was not the day for heli's!
I dont understand your comments ?? both helis had mechanical failure they did not crash from pilot error. We are both past the basics these are not beginners helis.
Bruce i have since looked at the RAVE and it seems the auto rotation unit is at fault not the clutch as first expected, The auto unit is spinning inside the housing. RAVE 450e parts ordered and will be back at SWMAC next weekend.
I wouldn't put an orange receiver on a trex! maybe an hk but not a trex, my only experience of a copy dsm2 receiver ended in my easystar doing several inside loops and beheading itself :s
First you need to read the description above it mentions 3 Raves so that means its not a trex. I had no issues with the orange receivers but that may be because it is a Faast believed to be a frsky in a orange case not a DSM2
Too bad you missed it too. It's beautiful weather in New Zealand! We had only one sunny day, it was yesterday. And who the hell was unable to fly?? That's right! ME.
@vigor3d Yes, I noticed that it was mentioned there. The first 2 i saw, but the third I didn't. The one that could be it, was a repetition of the first in my perspective..

the guy paniced and lost his orientation, otherwise he could have done an autorotation and land the heli un-harmed

Not a good look when TWO raves both apparently have clutch issues causing crashs on the same day .... that would really concern me if I had one!

@kiwibob72 Wayne says his one was a fault with the autorotation clutch -- Neils blew the centrifugal clutch on "touchdown" :-)

Wayne likes running in that paddock . I think last time he was trying to stop his electric heli from catching on fire.
