Reagan was a lousy actor and a lousy President. He was a RINO. Republican in name only.

He talked small government but he spent, spent, spent and spent. Government got HUGE under Reagan as did spending. And he did raise taxes multiple times. He was an intolerant bigot who ushered in the rise of bigoted and hateful Christian Right (the Christian Right by the way were NOTHING like Jesus, Jesus (if he ever existed) spoke of tolerance, something the Christian Right knew nothing about).

I agree with you, but the Jesus thing that is true for me. Anyway, you are right government got bigger under Reagan and poverty exploded. He took back race relations back to the 1950's. Elder loves to boast about how Reagan cut all these taxes, but these tax cuts cost money. Gov was way too big in the 1980's and I believe that any president would have cut taxes. Reagan, the Bushes, and Clinton deregulated the banks and that is why our economy is the way it is.

Elder does speak out against the policies of Obama's administration and his agenda. I distinctly remember when he substituted on the Dennis Prager show and distinctly said that Obama is "too left" and promoted his "we've got a country to save" podcast. He hasn't been a hypocrite and does not place his principles next to race.

Everybone is so smart these days, AFTER, bush has gone away, read the article this morning by paul krugman, titled, "Reagan Did It " in the new york times, those are REAL facts, im still reading will bunchs' "tear down this myth" very good book, it amazes me how some people who deitize ronald reagan, and swears he was the greatest, are the same people that get a very nasty attitude when just a little credit is given to obama, no politician is above reproach, they are only human beings.

republicans don't deitize reagan. they recognize some flaws, but take into account the amount of people who voted for Reagan and became Reagan Democrats, don't pay much attention to the far left who demonize him. they give him credit for fixing the american economy, saving social security (1983), and ending the cold war, amongst other things. that being said, reagan did not do enough in his economic philosophy by not getting rid of the CRA. P.S. there are good books on Reagan too!
