  • Very very classy. So hard to do without hitting the table.

  • it's definitely a GOOD SHOT!

you don't even need to slow that down.

    1) listen to the sound as the cue makes contact with the object ball

    2) you could see the ample enough space from the split-second birds' eye view just moment before the player aims for the shot.

    3) hitting the 5 first would've sent the cue touching the rail before (or even after) hitting the 8..

    thumbs up if you agree!

  • I can do it with my thumb but not the cue -_-

  • that was a foul shot. why did you post it? you just lost the game because you hit the 5 first. sorry but i had to say it

  • E viva a lei da fisica

  • This video should be titled, "How to lose a game... with style"

  • masee isnt a trick shot

  • It is a very simple masse shot, for me. You say tips don't make that much of a difference? That's misleading. Everything from the tip, cue-ball, cloth, and chalk make a difference. Just showing someone where to hit the cue-ball isn't enough. You need to explain that the things I said play an important role in the masse shot. For example, if your tip is slippery, and not holding chalk, the shot might not work. An option would've been to show the video and left the comments to the viewers.

  • when u make the masse shot, is the aim also for the cue tip not to touch the baize? or is that just politeness to the tables owner? can u do this shot with those thick clumpy random tip cues u get at the pub's pound a go table or is a top quality cue a prerequisite to even attempt having a go?

  • @bryngOneOn You can make a shot like this with any old cue. The reason to not strike the baize however is not just common courtesy - play it wrong and you WILL rip the cloth. If that happens I suggest you leave whichever establishment you're in sharpish:D

  • can you put a tutorial up on how to do the shot

  • seems like a foul. you hit the orange ball first.

  • Does the tip make contact with the table?

  • when i hit a masse i follow thru as much as possible so yes i would say it does

  • This is why you shouldn't do a masse shot on someone else's table. Unless you guarantee that you will not hit the table.

  • he did in the video, but most official rules consider this a foul...

this is another aspect of the difficulty of masse shots

  • the cue and tips really do not make all that much difference.

  • Finally, someone that understands what I am really saying. The special tips and cues are just able to take the impact and grip better than standard ones. They do not mushroom or break apart as easily or at all and the cues are more resistant to warping. I am giving you a thumbs up on this one.

  • @poolplayinghack that was a real good shot im trying to learn that but i just cant figure out exactly where to hit the cue. and that was a bad hit ^_^ u were going for the 8? u hit the 5 first hehe ya thats coming from a guy that cant evan come close to making that lol haha

  • @punkrutherford it actually was a good hit, slow the vid down and watch the 8 ball get hit before the 5. At first glance it does look like a foul. It is a good shot. Mind you it is only a split second difference. Slow-mo makes the difference...too bad no instant replay on YouTube.

  • @poolplayinghack ur right i admit it lol i slowed it down and yes it was a good hit and i have learned it (almost) i can get it to go out and spin back but i need to practice more cuz i cant get it to spin back and pocket the ball =\ but its close...

  • @poolplayinghack how do you slow the vid down on utube plz, i do have reasons other than porn?

  • @punkrutherford

The glare on that 8 makes it really hard to see, but yeah it definitely gets hit first... slowed down to frame by frame and 8 gets hit first :)

  • oh yes they do u cant just walk into a bar pick up an old bar cue and shoot a massey theres a reason they make masse cues

  • @nickrappley50 you can masse with a bar cue as long as you ruff up the tip and chalk it well

  • @KrisKustomPaint yeah but it wont be as easy nor will it work as well

  • @nickrappley50 Nothing worth doing is easy. Masse cues have only been around for 10 or 15 years, but masse shots have been around since the 1700's. I bet you I can shoot a masse with a bar cue better than you can with a special cue.

  • @KrisKustomPaint im not talking about me you will never see some one on trick shot magic doing a massey with a house cue

  • @nickrappley50 Well that's not what you said before. You said "You can't walk into a bar pick up a house cue and shoot a masse." Its not even that hard.

  • @KrisKustomPaint it depends on what ones the ones u do for show and the ones u do in games

  • nice shot.

  • What you have to remember is that I am using a cheap $20 house cue on these masse shots. The "Pro's" you see in most of the videos on YouTube are using expensive specially made cues and tips for masse shots. Masse shots are not allowed in most pool halls or in most tournaments at the amatuer level. Anyone can do this shot is what I was trying to demo. Thanks for watching.
