I remember seeing this on CBLT Channel 5 and CFTO Channel 9. I told my wife about this commercial...now she can see it for herself!!! Great job, Retro-O!!!
Yes - this is great. I've been looking for a while as well. How lame is it that we have to describe commercials from our youth?! My colleagues at work just look at me weird when I talk about this commercial. Now I can share it. This is a marketer's wet dream. But it's true. We have these iconic commercials embedded in our brains. Amazing.
I have to say the same comments along the lines as the others...I've been trying to find this for quite some time... I was willing to do anything to get it..."ANYTHING"
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! You have done a great public service in posting this. FINALLY people won't think I'm nuts when replying to people who say the word "anything" with a haunting, evil, echoing "ANY-THING-ING-ING??" (Had nearly given up hope; had seriously been actively searching for this for almost 30 years!!!!) Just curious...HOW and WHERE did the original poster find this??
@Love4SK I was thinking the same. I thought this commercial was just before the 80's. I could be wrong. But then again, this commercial was THAT memorable.
Amazing! One of the most memorable commercials from my childhood. I don't think I've seen this for almost thirty years, yet I managed to retain most of the dialogue. Thanks for posting it, Retro.
Theres like a whole bunch of people here thinking exactly like me. Have you guys been peeking through my curtains or something? I've been wondering about this one for years!
I thought I was the only one who thought this was the BEST commercial of the time. Back in the day I would repeat " ANYTHING...thing...thing" whenever the opportunity came up. I'm such a nerd
@r655321 I think I've bugged Retrontario privately a couple times, imploring him to find this one. I have no idea where he finds them, but I'm glad he does. :)
You did it! You finally did it! The commercial that's safely locked in every Canadians databanks.Preserved and fresh..we remember it well! I always thought there were three associates makin' deals...and the devil's a little more hokey then I remember/ Still though...great effort!

The Voice of the devil is William Olser. He was a good man and I am glad to have known him. He was my husband's friend and drama teacher.

@RetroArcadia
Really? He must have enjoyed making the commercial and probably had a good laugh doing it..
ShadowsFrost 1 year ago
@RetroArcadia - What's your dad's name? Most Canadian actors & actresses go unknown, so it's always great to be able to put a name to a face.
