  • I am not from Czech Republic or Slovakia. I am from the US, born in 1990, and this video brings tears to my eyes. Every day gets more and more confusing in my country....

These men and women are so brave.

  • @ldl272 Yes important thing for you and your country is, never forget what does communism really means and what this system cost us.

  • i recognise part of bratislava now slovakia's official capital :) it is beautiful, i just returned from there. they had the anniversary of the revolution 17th november last thursday. they are still haunted by it, but at least their using the lessons for a brighter future. painful :(

  • At 3:05, the guy in the navy blue is my dad. :-)

  • the reality of totalitarian dictatorship - always the same; long live free czech and slovak republics

  • Good to see the last convulsions of a government that already knows it has lost. I have visited the CSSR, and later CSR, syill later CZ from 1971 till 1995, and my hopes for the Czech people came out in 1989. You are not free of problems, but you are FREE! And stay that way!

  • i am proud to be Czech FUCK THE SOVIET UNION THEY KILL MY PEOPLE ALL OF THEM THEY BRING LIES OF CHANGE IN 1968 WHEN ONLY THEY BRING UNFAIR PAY FORCED SHARING OF PROPERTY AND GOVERMENT PURGES I AM ALSO GERMAN AND THE SOVIETS HAVE PAYED FOR THEIR EVIL CRIMES

  • @jumis6 I've noted it after posting, of course czech and slovaks too, thanks.

  • I hope those uniformed cunts die alone and unloved.

  • Brave people.

  • communist is like a nazi.

  • @pavolpi it's not "like" it's total some shit...

  • well, I see fuckwad Prague cops haven't changed a bit. BTW, at ;58 that's now a TESCO haha.

  • That's not true. For your info: It has always been a shopping mall. It used to be called "Máj" before 1989, then KMart, then Tesco, and now it's "Máj" again, spelled "My" but pronounced the same as before 1989.

  • I remember when it was Kmart on through to Teskers. Máj huh? I'll have to check that out today...and don't get so uptight about shopping centres, relax.

  • ahh Sebastian England - Did you experience Prague on a bucks weekend? Did you drink plsner but wish it was lager? Did you wear your full England kit? Did you get in a fight?

  • No, I've lived here for almost 10 years now. And check your facts mate, look where I'm from, as well as your spelling.

  • @SebastianEngland hi sebastian! i also live in prague and im really intrigued to learn more about the velvet revolution! can u recomend any tour guides? or know of a good place to learn about it in prague???

  • minimálně ty tajný svině v civilu by měly viset! Na veřejnosti jako ve středověku. A žádný nejsme jako oni..

  • The sombre music gives the right tone and helps to convey the misery that people suffered under that communist régime.

  • Velvet revolution means no violence, I thought but there were violence by the green uniform police or militants I learned by this video. are they czech police or ussr police?

  • @sietube2008 -- it was the czechoslovakian police, called "Verejna Bezpecnost", means Public Security

  • sietube2008 . . . The Velvet Revolution was not so called because of a lack of violence . . . but rather because not a single person was killed . . . an absolutely astounding fact when you consider the bloodshed during virtually all other revolutions! It was an amazing event in history . . . I lived in Czechoslovakia from early 1991 to 1994 . . . I miss it deeply.

  • Could anybody tell us the name of the young woman which is desplayed several times - and so happy in the end ... ??

  • Spravce21, thank you !

  • Could someone tell me the title of this beautiful music ? Is it by Dvorak ?

  • It's Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven :)

  • Pre vsetkych tych, v zelenych uniformach ale aj bez nich, tych ktory bili a potlacovali. Hanbite sa. Pravda aj tak zvitazi !!!

  • presne tak....

  • For all those, the green uniforms but without them, who's beaten and oppressed. Shame. The truth still win! - The english translation
