The fact that it hasn't got the Dual 3.33ghz option is the main reason why I'm getting a custom made PC and even with the Dual 3.33ghz option it's still nearly £2000 cheaper than the Dual 2.93ghz option on the Mac Pro.

Well I can only offer you a little bit of advice so hopefully someone will elaborate for me later. But this is what I know:

Mac's are fantastic for things like, video and music editing. Running programs like the Adobe suite are much faster and more reliable on a Mac. They are also just more quick and reliable in general, they start up and shut down faster etc.

However, they are absolutely terrible for gaming. Many games just don't support the Mac OS and won't bother installing. Others will run slow because Mac's generally fall behind in the technical specs. They use outdated graphics cards and Processors (although they are built to get the ABSOLUTE MOST of what they use, which a PC generally doesn't do).

In other words, a Mac is a more specific computer, made for reliability and speed for certain things like editing.

Bare in mind though, you can bypass the lack of game compatability by installing Windows on a Mac (which is a perfectly legal operation). But this doesn't help the old hardware. Oh and they cost a ton! (You can bye a PC for under half the price with exactly the same specs as a Mac, but you arent getting that Mac speed and reliability)
