@MrSamas35 I cried every night before going to sleep for a week after seeing it! I think it was excellent anyways. The love story between the boy and father is so beautiful.
It was really the black man scene, cannibals, and the dads death that scarred me for life.I agree 100%!But what do you expect? Its a post apoctaliptic world, there wouldnt really be a happy ending.
this is an exellent movie, the only thing I will have to say.... people will be more united in such sircumstances.... sorry for my english.... but people will help each other if that thing happened
@AliveDesign You are right, in case of a social downcrash( when everything goes to hell ), people will start eating each other...because thats just their nature...
@Alioon6 Im not saying actually eating eachother but more like... Get what they can and fuck the rest. Its survival of the fittest. Helping the others isnt a choice. And thats with loners , now imagina with families. Its every man for himself.
The father raised his son to see the world thru rose colored glasses and not reality, which is why most young today would not survive a week in a shtf scenario. Which is why I prep and Im totally self sufficient. I teach my kids to fish, target shoot, as well as how to hunt and clean game. The world is changing people get with it or get left behind.
in my opinion, the boy represents the last of innocence, he wants to read books, say grace, smile, says there is hope, the Dad is the hardened down to earth man who tries to become innocent by looking for his relatives. Do you gu?
I liked this part better in the movie than the book. In the book the bunker was just too "convenient" to be believable. Like it had everything in the book in terms of food, drink, supplies, clothes, bedding. But in the movie it seemed more like the basics that would be needed and not so much the luxuries
They were down to one bullet - they couldn't stay there. Eventually they'd be found and killed. Great part in the book when he thought about filling down some wood to make fake rounds so it would appear the chamber of the revolver was full.
@dfunkt Wrong choice of stock. The canned food and boxes of cereal may have a long shelf life even past the expiration date, but they take up a lot of space and weight. And they don't have much calories per serving for one can.
That bunker could've stored years of food if they filled it up with high caloric ration bars (not as long of a shelf life but they are sealed and nonperishable) and MREs.
It must've been a makeshift fallout bunker during the Cold War days or by a survivalist (ironic).
@DanaPattison They fled when they heard a dog barking, not knowing if anyone was the handler. It could've been the owners, a gang, or cannibals. It wasn't until it turns out the dog belonged to the family. And we never did know whether that bunker belonged to them.
They couldn't hide the hatch opening very well or lock it so someone probably would find it eventually. And he only had one round left.
@AngryVideoGameKidd2 you know what would make this movie scarier....If you had Michael Jackson playing the role of the "father" and had this kid with him....Damn my mind is fucked up
Haha xD When I watched this with my brother I was like (I'll try not to give spoilers) "Oh god no more basements. Theyre not gonna find what they did before again are they?" and he was like "Its even worse. Its so horrific what they find..." and they went down and he was like "...A SHITLOAD OF FOOD!!!" x3
I felt so happy for them at this moment, I was like: "YES!" I'm sure I'd feeling like screaming in happiness and dancing if my life didn't depend on my being quiet in that situation.
the kid ruins the movie .. he acts like he is mental or something ..He also cannot act to save his life .. I cant stand him! And so dont like this movie..
I think its a great detail that the little boy didn't know how to pronounce "Cheetos", as he had grown up in a world where they are a luxury of the past. Very moving, oddly.
Why is it that in the book viggo and kodi are only known as father and son our teacher said there was a reason why and were going to find out but i know know its viggo and kodi LOL please tell me why the book is written with no chapters and quotes etc she wont tell us
maybe cormicc mccarthy wanted it to be more left open for our imaginations, and to say we are all the same on the inside and names dont matter anymore when the end of times happens
McCarthys writing style is simple and he only uses periods capital letters sometimes a comma or a colon but he doesn't use quotation marks, he prefers not to "block up the page with weird little marks"
Well my opinion is that the author wanted the book to just feel long and monotonous and anonymous, like their lives. Names, days, hours don't matter. What difference does it make if it's the fourth of July or Christmas or Thursday or if your name was Mike or Jill or anything. The characters lives are just day after day of fatigue, boredom and terror. Also, "man and boy" seems to strip down to the essence of their relationship: love, respect devotion and need. Just my opinion. good luck.
@muaythaimark I agree. I think that why he doesn't tell what the disaster was. Because what does it matter? What matters in here and now...these two people trying to survive.
i read somewhere that by having no names, it makes their relationship universal. It could be any father and son in the world that they live in.....something along those lines. sounds right to me.
What good would names be? The story is about the bond between the man and boy and how the boy possess something that is lost to the world and even the man.
McCarthy never uses chapter number or quotation marks in his other stuff.
These clips all seem so great and so well adapted from the novel. I just cant wait to see this movie. I've been waiting for a long while now. Viggo looks amazing and so is Kodi.
i love the book, but when i saw the trailer i was very reluctant about the film. However these clips are making me more excited about it! looks very good.
change my mind this movie makes me realize how the innocent can make you weak but you need them in a way
