  • is this guys irish then hes my great grand father

  • E stona meno di Lauri Volpi

  • He was a favourite singer of James Joyce. Recommendation enough. Real heroic sound.

  • WOW AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • OMG WOW!!!!!!

  • there are so few recordings of this tenor... or, at least, I know just this and may be other 2 or 3 arias... really sad... great voice and great technique

  • Sublime Grazie .

  • Much better sung by Juan Diego Floréz

  • by far! Totally agree

  • The problem is that Rossini wrote this for Heroic Tenors and not leggiero.

The problem with drawing that comparison is that O'Sullivan has really shoddy equipment to sing into and record and only one take in which to do it. We would need to hear a comparable instance between the two to make an accurate statement. This guy is a power house, and I cannot believe that he opted to take a breath before hitting that c- THAT is difficult to do!

  • he is on that recording of 40 tenors -- 80 high C's same aria, di quella pira--- tap records, must have been a big voice.

  • Incredible recording. Thanks to GermanOperaSinger for having mentioned it to me.

Magnifique. Rarissime.

  • Awesome.

  • This is the kind of voice for Arnoldo in Gullielmo Tell, Maestro O'Sullivan, i like Fillipeschi and Tony Poncet too.

  • you write

Amazingly, O'Sullivan sang this role well over 200 times right up to the end of his career.

Where did you get the information

  • Superhuman!

  • Maestro !!! To sing THIS aria/role with so much vocal weight is SUPERHUMAN!!!

    Bravissimo" seems so inadequate.

  • What about Filippeschi... :)

  • Agreed !!

  • Filippeschi was no O'Sullivan

  • Impressive! Stentorian rendition. Guglielmo Tell is one of my favorite operas: a pity it's now given so infrequently. Juan Diego Florez includes one track from Tell in his very recent CD release.
